How flexible are you?
I always see threads about how much people lift, but I never see anything about being flexible!
After taking dance for 4~5 years, I've forgotten how flexible the average person is... Sometimes I'll be doing something, and my friends will tell me "STOP DOING THAT, you're making me feel bad!"
So, how flexible are you? Can you bend over and touch your toes with straight legs? Or the ground? Approximately how far can you lift your leg off the ground (in degrees)? Things like that.

as a gymnast.. i can do a full split and look at my own ass <3
@Pashmimi: I've never liked dancing unless i'm comfortable with the people im dancing in front of.
I have tried dancing, but i was never interested. Apparently my flexibility is good for sports according to my coach
I'm quite flexible as I've been dancing for around 12 years.
-Name is PashySpirit-
I think there's something going on here...
still can't seem to suck my schlong
I wish I was flexible enough to be able to suck my d--k
I can lick my elbow if that counts as a level of flexibility. Or it might just mean I have midgety arms.
I can touch my toes C:
I'm quite flexible as I've been dancing for around 12 years.
@Pashmimi: > x< grr guess I should start stretching asap then... I need to improve it within the next 6 weeks or so...
I don't even mind the pain during the stretches itself but I'm scared that my muscles will end up cramping or something... <-<"
and middle splits are scary ... but hopefully ONE DAY I can do that too hahaha
and I don't have the time to draw and upload it but it's somewhat like this just that both feet are on the ground and you bend your knees to either side when you breathe out (also, hands around your ankles and upper body lower then breathe in (middle), breathe out (right), breathe in (middle), breathe out (left), ..)
idk why but for some reason it stretches the muscles or whatever between my legs which feels strangely comfortable O.o the only problem I have with that is that my muscles aren't 100% strong enough for it so if I were to go as low as I can stretch-wise I'm scared I couldn't go back up muscle-wise hahaha
Edit: You also look towards the not bent knee, forgot to mention that! (so when your left knee is bent you look to the right, when you're in the middle you look downwards and when you move to the right (right knee bent) you look to the left O
Of course I'm flexible.
i can flat palm the floor while standing straight up and bending over.
I can bring my thumb behind my hand say word
The last time i did the sit and reach test i got +29cm so I'm pretty flexible for a guy
I'm not so sure how far I'm supposed to stretch though. Until it REALLY hurts, until it SOMEWHAT hurts or just the bearable slightly uncomfy stretch? I don't actually wanna hurt any muscles or rip something apart lol. I just dunno how far I can go (plus idk if I should train (in general) daily or if I should take breaks xD argh I'm such a noob)
My Yoga program seemed kinda quick, stretches were kept for less than 15 secs for sure I think... There was just one stretch where I saw results and which was actually fun to do... no clue how it's called though.
I drink about 2L a day, sometimes 3-4L it really depends on how much time I have...
I'd love to dance but my cardiovascular system ain't ready for that yet xD
The pain depends on the stretch and how tight you are in that specific muscle, but if it hurts a lot, then you should adjust it. I would say that you can never stretch too much, but you can... It should usually be somewhere between slightly uncomfy and somewhat hurts (if possible more in the uncomfy side). But as I said, middle splits will always be brutal...
I find that yoga's more about relaxing muscles rather than stretching them. Ultimately they have the same effect, because relaxed muscles will be more flexible. It's good to have a balance between them.
Could you draw a picture or something of that fun stretch? I kind of want to do it now... xD

About as flexible as a 2x4 slab of wood
Can't touch feet when stretching. Been like this since I first remember. Starting first grade my dad bashes me how inflexible I am.
I am Daniel Browning Smith.
I'm so flexible that I can suck my
@PhanniLynn: I've done Yoga a lil bit for 2 weeks but I didn't feel any diff (was only for 10min anyway after about 10-15min cardio + 10-15min muscle training). Eventually gave up cause I overall had no effects xD I'm far too impatient sadly... (and I just don't have the time/energy a lot of times..)

On a scale of 1~10... 6.5 ._.

o-o. I used to do martial arts for a while. But then I quit for swimming. When I try to high kick, I can pretty much do a vertical splits. I can hold it there for about a second, and then I usually almost fall.
While standing, I can grab my leg, and bring my knee behind my shoulder
After reading that, I can't help but breathe heavily and smile creepily.
I can't touch my toes with straight legs. The furthest I can go in my knees (no joke).
HOWEVER.
While standing, I can grab my leg, and bring my knee behind my shoulder (making it go under my arm and behind). Also while standing, I can touch my shoulder with my foot.
Now, while sitting, like if I kneel down and let my knees drop to both sides, I can lay down completely flat on my back, and would manage to bend back if I was, for example, close to the side of my bed. This seems stupid to me, but I realized how many people were not able to do that during my P.E. classes a couple years ago.
We should be yoga partners !
Pretty flexible. Sitting down, I can reach more than 8 inches past my toes (had to to do this for Gym back in Grade 9) and I'm able to do the left forward splits...
Not really.
I feel like a solid stick hahahaha...
not too flexible... I can lift my leg probably a lil above my hipline... (bit more than 90)
no clueeee xD
I hope I'll become more flexible over time....
do you by any chance know how long it takes to see first results when one tries to become more flexible? Is it a matter of days (to see a tiny improvement at least), weeks, months or even only years?
I get demotivated rather easily so if it's below 2 weeks to see/feel first tiny results that's prob not fast enough for me
Results will vary depending on the person, but you can generally see a small difference by the first week. Just stretch for around 15 minutes a day, and you'll start to see improvements. Around 15-30sec depending on the stretch. Some stretches will be way harder than others, but I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that middle splits are brutal. Even for me, and I'm a girl.
If you ever decide to take yoga or a dance class, you will be in pain for a few days after. Keep stretching. Just tone it down a little until you stop hurting; you don't want to injure anything. And drink lots of water.
For a guy i'm very flexible. Try yoga if you want to become more flexible.
I love yoga! Too bad I don't have a lot of time to go take some classes... But when I do, I feel all floppy and flexible at the end! It's so fun~
not flexible at all
flexibility and mobility work works wonders for doing weighted squats, but not as flexible as dancers or yoga partakers
I can get down to my ankles.
But I can't raise my leg above my hip without bending it.
@Nashi: well then it would take a while Yoga helps to increase flexibility though!
Well my fingers are double jointed.
@PhanniLynn: bwargh I'm 24 so definitely not a child anymore... ; _ ;

Depends on how stiff your bones are. If you're like a child it's much easier to get flexible faster but if you're older it takes much longer.
I can touch the floor with my palms. That is it. Can't do anything else.
Ok I'm a guy sooo,
I can touch the ground with straight legs, and probably with a kick, i could lift my leg about 150 degrees.
150 degrees? With straight legs?
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR DANCE CLASSES ARE EVERYWHERE
@Pashmimi: I tried so hard to draw them, but was completely unable to due to my lack of artistic talent, so I took pictures instead.

You have some flexible hips there! And you're pretty too~
I can stand up, bend down, and place my hands on the floor without bending my knees... Does that count? o:
Of course it counts! xD Most people I know can't do that~
Just wondering... Are you any type of Asian? I find that Asian people can do that more easily.
Ok I'm a guy sooo,
I can touch the ground with straight legs, and probably with a kick, i could lift my leg about 150 degrees.
@xKimyAran: Ohh! I see.
I haven't been able to touch my toes since elementary school.

I'm confused too...
I was like "What? Does she mean this?"
I can do 25 inches on the sit & reach.
HIGHHHHHLY inflexible!
I can barely go halfway past the mid-point of my shins!
i do gymnastics
EDIT: I would put a picture but I'm not sure how to link it from fb
@xKimyAran: your description is a bit confusing lol
I reach about halfway down my calf with my legs straight. I haven't been able to touch my toes since middle school. It's kind of pathetic.
Im quite agile but on a scale of 1-10 i am -10 in flexibility(one of my legs dont bend completely)
How do measure how flexible someone is?
I go by how far you can go in a stretch. Like how far you're off the ground in the splits, etc.
