Why you should use Yelp more often
Does any Basilers use Yelp a lot?
I've recently (past year or so) gotten really into reviewing and using Yelp, and have really assimilated into their culture.
There are huge food scenes in basically every major city, and by writing a lot of helpful reviews, you can eventually be nominated for, and chosen as an Elite Member.
Being joining the Elite membership, you get invited to free, exclusive events. Not only that, but some restaurants actually read and respond to your reviews.
So do your part, and join the Yelp community Basil

I lurk yelp because I haven't signed up for it. I like the phone app.
Yelp is one of my most frequented websites . I've been slacking on reviews lately, but I'm going to try to get Elite after I turn 21.
I'm a yelp elite
The fanciest restaurant I've ever been to is a Chili's so no, I don't use Yelp. I've wanted to try a few a places around here, just never really went.
i don't usually write reviews, but i really like reading them and they can be really useful. pics are also nice.
@pr3stig3: when i went to madison last year there was a farmers market and stuff around the capitol, and there was a yelp stand and i got a yelp sticker lol. i just wanted stickers for my car at the time.
I check yelp sometimes but I have this restaurant I go to ever so often and I saw the reviews and it was calling the food expensive...
$6 for a burger meal is a lot? Keep in mind that the burger is bigger than a big mac and a super start soo.....
It's a diner place it's really good.
I use it to SLIGHTLY see which places are okay to go to but it's not a make or break thing for me
i prefer urbanspoon
What I really hate is they leave out big name fast food places in their restaurants section. I'm new in my town and I used yelp look for some places to eat. It only brought up a few ok places at a nearby plaza. When I went to the plaza, there was a Del Taco, Carl's Jr, KFC, A&W, and a McDonalds all in the area but never mentioned on Yelp. Really annoyed me that they would do that. Unfortunately by then I already made up my mind about where I wanted to go (and didn't change my mind since I spent like a half hour choosing where to go) and my meal there probably costed me twice as much as going to a FF for the same amount.
I actually leave out most chain restaurants/fast food places in my reviews. The way I see it is, most fast food places are going to have similar tasting and priced foods. Only thing that might differ is the service, but then again, you're not getting fast food for their service.
@pr3stig3: oh
Because I hate critics of anything. They're always wrong, and they always underrate stuff. It's as if they're embarrassed to give stuff good ratings, unless it's something popular or expensive.
I'm a pretty generous grader, and without critics, you'd have no sense of good vs. bad.

Yelp.com
It's a restaurant review website, kind of like FourSquare. You can also check into places and get special deals.

I only use it when I'm in like the city and trying to find a bite to eat.
