Math serious
Need a pre-calc book that I can use to self learn during summer.
As of right now, I plan on purchasing Pre-Calculus For Dummies and Pre-Calculus Workbook For Dummies on Amazon.
I want to pass the calc placement test on August 5th.
Suggestions please!

I highly recommend borrowing/purchasing a book that your school specifically uses.
Problems will be similar to those presented in text, and overall you'll have an easier time with the test. You'll know for sure the kind of material they will be testing you on if you go through a text they base questions off of.
He really doesn't. In the U.S. and Canada, it's widely agreed upon that precalculus is about functions with an emphasis on logarithms/exponentials, trigonometric identities, and a few other topics such as series/sequences.
OT: Borrow your school's precalc book(s) and study from those, because chances are, your teacher will be testing you with problems similar to the text.
precalculas is very unspecific where i live (canada) and we cover different topics in 11 and 12. for example, logarithms is taught at grade 12 here along with trig identities but we precalc 11 touches on series and sequences and parabolas etc
so are our textbooks
First of all you need to be more specific in your terminology. "Pre Calc" where I live can either be seperated as Pre Calc 12 or Pre Calc 11.
instead of purchasing a book why not just barrow books from the library?
Your initiative is commendable. Patrick's videos are great, and I highly recommend using them as one of your references. Good luck!
I tried to self-taught myself in any math class
I was in despair the whole time
It will be confusing for you... Good luck
(I hope no one's annoyed with me typing like this)

Is the Calc placement test an exam to qualify you in for a calculas test? etc
