Theyre Practically Giving Macbooks Away

$200 off for students, and you get a pair of Beats with them. Should I go for it?
I've been anti-Mac for my whole life. When I started college 3 years ago, the people at computer stores always tried to push Macs on me. I denied them every time, saying that they were overpriced and one wouldn't be able to play games on them.

But now I have other needs for a computer. I'm not into games at all anymore. In fact, if I got a Mac, it'd probably discourage me from playing League of Legends, which would be super great. My current laptop is fine. It's a three-year-old Sony with Windows 7. The touchpad hasn't worked for a year, but it's no big deal because I use a USB mouse. The screen is really dirty, but I could clean it, just haven't felt the need for three years. There are a bunch of saved pictures on here (mostly rare pepes) that I would need to transfer or put on a drive, that would be kind of annoying.

The main reason I'm even entertaining the idea of getting a Macbook is Garage Band. If I learned how to make beats, I think I could probably make an actual song, as I already have a bunch of lyrics and a killer stage name. Actually, I could probably be the next Mac Miller if I got my hands on some beats.

Moreover, I'm really starting to dislike Windows. Windows 8 was wack. Windows 10 looks wack. I HATE TOUCHSCREENS! I HATE TABLETS! I DON'T NEED A LAPTOP THAT CAN ALSO BE A TABLET! I JUST WANT A LAPTOP!

Lastly, I could play into consumerism and just get a Macbook because I'd look more sophisticated. I've never been one to buy a piece of technology just to fit in. That said, Macbooks are definitely chic. Maybe it would lure more Chinese girls. I don't know.

I wouldn't get rid of my current laptop. I had 2 laptops in college before, and I could do it again, using the Windows laptop whenever someone wanted to play League I guess. I could also make the Windows laptop my desk computer and bring my Macbook to class. Actually, that's a stupid idea because I prefer handwriting my notes with a pen. I could still play Hearthstone, so not all gaming would be lost.

What do you think? $800 for a 13 inch Macbook Air.

You can go far with a 800$ especially if you are look for one that is 13 inches. Honestly, if paying for a program such as FL Studio turns you off, you can just torrent it. If you are looking for something to record yourself on, Audacity goes a long way for you too.

Maybe I'm biased because I think Apple is a **** company that sells cheap products made in China by kidnapped children, but that's up to you to decide.

P.S. : You can still play league on the Mac, so that won't help you.
how is it that nowadays people preffer a bunch of easy apps for the same price they could get a nice gaming laptop that could do anything apple marketing stronk
anyway u can still play league on that macbook
I don't think Macs have as many problems and things to figure out as PCs. And I wanted a Macbook Air just for the look and dimensions.

I have a 13 in macbook pro retina and it's honestly so nice.

It's the perfect size, portable, easy to use, the trackpad is rly nice, keyboard shortcuts are convenient af, it's so convenient with my iphone with imessage/photos and stuff
I'd definitely say to invest in a speck laptop case, though. For such an expensive computer, you gotta protect it.
Probably the only downside I'd say is that I can't play games, but that's even better since I shouldn't be anyway.

I'd say go for it. If you're gonna use it for school then sure, its extremely portable and really easy to get used to.

my sister has one and after using it myself for a few weeks i've definitely gotten used to it. i'm in need of a better computer/laptop right now but i'm not sure what to get. i wouldn't get a macbook since i'd feel way too restricted in terms of what i want to be able to do but if it'll help your addiction with league of legends then why not buy it

LOL Garageband?
There is a reason it comes pre-installed on all Macs. Garageband is just like an introductory program, just like how Windows Movie Maker is the lamest video software ever, it's introductory. lf you want to even be remotely serious, consider FL Studio; one time payment and all future upgrades totally free.

lf $300 off an already expensive piece of hardware + free overpriced headphones is enough to entice you to buy it, than go for it by all means.

l don't know what other kinds of needs you have, but for the same price of ~$900 you can get a really good PC with a nice processor and lots of yummy RAM.

@ritopls or you could...get...FL Studio on either OS. If you're really serious about creating beats.
Garage Band and Mixcraft are really crappy and cheesy unless you're simply recording yourself/instruments.

If your primary motivation is to have an OS that runs Garageband, don't bother. There are better music production softwares out there, and in the end, it's not about the software, it's about the person. Garageband won't turn you into a prodigy.

Otherwise, your reasons are valid things to consider.
ehh id go for it but arent there better programs than Garage Band nowadays?
I haven't looked into it much, but I know there are Logic and Mixcraft out there. Not sure how they compare, but even if they were better, I'm not sure I'd get them for this three-year-old laptop. So I guess if I were buying a new laptop anyway, and I could get a Windows laptop for 600/700, or a Macbook for 800 that already has music software on it, I'd go with the Macbook anyway.

Hm

@alwaysthere I feel like Macbooks being only $100 more than a decent Windows laptop makes them a lot more attractive.

Yeah, I don't game anymore either, and I have no intention of starting again. I just use my computer for Basil, other web surfing, watching movies/TV, Spotify, and Office/Drive.
When I was looking for a laptop, I wanted a Macbook Air, because portability was the biggest deciding factor for me--other than price. But I didn't wanna spend ~$600 to $800 on a used laptop.
So I settled for a Lenovo 11s...

Anyway, go for it if you have the money. And sell the Beats when they're new for as much as you can, then go here and buy the best ones you can afford.

Not sure how they're "practically giving away MacBooks" since they're like $1100 and it'll still cost $900 plus taxes.

Yes get a macbook. You will not regret it.

I dont know about the beats, but I guess thats good too.
I have both a windows laptop and a macbook. I usually do everything from browsing, youtube, texting, netflix, etc. on my macbook. Its just a better experience overall since the track pad is just amazing to use.
*REALLY amazing when paired with an iphone*

I used it for college too, the same why you described it. The 13'' is a perfect size and weight for school. I couldnt imagine taking my windows laptop everywhere I go.
I found myself only using my windows laptop just to play CSGO/Maplestory/league. Other than that, it serves no other purpose.
