I dislike cops

I always give everyone respect unless they give me a reason not to.

I will NEVER give cops any respect until they have earned it.
Of course I'm going to treat them like a human. And of course I'll answer any questions they have, depending on the situation. But I will never truly respect cops until they prove otherwise.

This may make me sound like an entitled a hole, but, imo, cops have too much power and we need to do something.

(Coming from an American. Canadian cops, for the most part, are awesome though)

@fun2killu: I said it doesn't matter if you're going to get shot. They aren't going to not shoot me because I'm white, and shoot someone that's black in same situations

@stoker: I hate humans '-' I'm a human, tho. I hate me? idk

@kevqn: you said it doesn't matter black or white. LOL
history has shown us that the police will racially profile people.

@kevqn: I disagree with the race part. Even the Michael Brown one. I'm just going to leave it at that because I don't feel like arguing.

@shamieekill: Do you know how much a NY UPS driver makes? When I become a driver I'll be making plenty. Race matters when it comes to pulling someone over, but it's not going to decide if you get shot or not. If you take Michael Brown and made him white, the outcome would still be the same

@kevqn: Maybe if you don't start off your posts with attacking people, then maybe, just maybe, people will take you a bit seriously you UPS/Fed Ex driving b@tch. Get a job that you won't have to make excuses for about being paid more. (see, you probably won't take me seriously because of the last part)

Edit: Also, if you don't think it matters if you're white or black in the eyes of cops, then boy are you blind af.

@fun2killu: You're retarded too if you think most cops are bad. Give me an example of a story where the cops hurt/killed someone and they didn't do it to themselves, meaning if they didn't do something bad then it wouldn't have happened

I thought cops can do anything bad after staring at this blankly without any other analysis

There are good cops and bad cops just as there are good and bad people. It's just that the media almost always picks up the bad situations, because that's what the people are interested in knowing. You're more likely to click a story about police brutality than a cop doing his work properly. Why do you think Trump is so media-famous compared to a lot of people? Because people don't like him. Does he represent how all candidates are? No, of course not. So these "bad cops" that you see on media shouldn't represent how all cops are either. Police brutality is happening, yes, but that doesn't mean all cops are bad, or that it's the norm.

You're retarded, most cops are good and are only dbags if you give them a reason to. Don't break the law, nothing will happen to you. Doesn't matter if you're black or white

@stoker: My opinion of law enforcement is one that is indeed a lot more realistic, having been related to a few; some are bad, most are good, but the bad ones inherently come with a job that has that degree of power. Further into the nuances of things, I also hold that the good ones are also easily corruptible depending on circumstance; that risk also inherently comes with the job. Now, this doesn't mean that I think we should be paranoid around law enforcement and yes, people do need to learn how to act around the police. I could go much deeper into the nuance than this, but that would require an ashleyattacks-length post, which I just don't feel like doing right now.

That being said, I'm not necessarily libertarian, although I can seem that way when it comes to academic practices (I have a strong opposition to government-controlled science, especially since those who are governing said science tend to be incredibly incompetent in those areas). I don't quite buy into the complete individual freedom part because I acknowledge the reality that some people really should have a few extra eyes kept on them for the sake of society's greater safety (it should go without saying that I don't mind things like the NSA's monitoring).

Overall, I'm politically stuck in the middle; in some cases I lean left, in others I lean right, but I always relentlessly challenge those who pitch political stances to me. I suppose that habit has a lot to do with me being as moderate as I am.

@stoker: You were whining about someone whining on the internet. Probably the last person to be telling someone to "toughen up".

That's part of what I don't get about this whole liberal and conservative nonsense; both sides incessantly b!@tch and moan about each other, then one side has the audacity to tell the other to toughen up or get over something, again, right after they've finished whining about each other in the first place.

Intellectual discourse is suffocating with this generation's "politics".

Edit: Oh, and at the end of it, I end up b!@tching about both sides anyway because I have nothing better to do during the half-hour between most lectures.

for the past year and a half we've heard time and time again that cops felt like their lives were being threatened by unarmed people and you'd think that they're qualified enough to get an alleged criminal to surrender without using force but they resort to chokehold or shooting anyway. ofc they feel fear like anybody but i didn't think there'd be a day where i could be 12 yo playing with a toy gun in a park and my life just ends there cause a cop was peeing his pants and decides to kill me without question. some of the crimes were petty given that they were jaywalking or stealing cigarettes but you've got mass murderers that shot up movie theatres and churches deserving to sit in prison at the very least, alive. doesn't add up very well

@stoker: everyone is aware that the majority of cops are good. i'm sure there are cops who have empathy for victims of police brutality and are culturally aware, unprejudiced and truly respectful people of authority. while acknowledging and honouring their service is important, we can't ignore it when horrific things are done by them in cold blood. you can't compare cops with the human race as a whole cause the police force is a constitution that is specifically assigned the role of enforcing the law and protecting. you're saying that we would say that we hate 7 billion people when there's so much diversity in morals and whatnot that we have no control over (actually "i hate people" is common lol) whereas cops have a distinct reputation of righteousness, integrity, and virtue to uphold. they're supposed to be good so it's terrifying when they're not

stop taking "i hate cops" so literal damn sjw white knightin. you know what people mean ok cool lol

@stoker: If you ever wish to present valid arguments, you need to work on avoiding logical fallacies. Also, you shouldn't use the word liberal in a derogatory way. It's very rude.

EVERY COP THAT I HAVE DEALT WITH, DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION.
Has acted accordingly. During my juvenile years got caught with 2 swords and nunchucks. To be fair 5 squad cars was a little much. The thing is though, they were responding to a call about dangerous weapons.
YOU KNOW WHAT THE HELL I DID? THEY CAME OUT OF THE CAR AND HAD A MEGAPHONE AND SAID TO ME PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR.(They had guns pointed at me at this point.) I LISTENED TO THEM AND AFTERWARDS THEY SAID GET ON THE GROUND. I DID THAT THEY TOOK THE SWORDS OFF MY BACK AND CUFFED ME WHILE I WAS ON THE GROUND.

ANOTHER TIME I WAS WALKING HOME FROM A PARTY WITH 2 OTHER FRIENDS. 1 BEING A MINOR REALLY MESSED US UP. THE COPS THERE WHERE 3 SQUADS CARS AND APPERENTLY IT WAS A CALL ABOUT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. THEY ID US AND LET US GO AFTER ABOUT 1 HR OF TRYING TO CHECK US.

There is a lot more but none of them have gone wrong (idk wth is wrong with you cop hating fCtards). I don't got no felonies. The worse a cop has actually done has to be arresting my dad infront of my little sister.

YOU CAN BET I GAVE THE POLICE MAN HELL FOR THAT. HE COULD HAVE WAITED TO ARREST HIM ONCE MY SISTER WENT INSIDE AND I EXPLAINED TO THE MAN THAT IT ISN'T SOMETHING A YOUNG CHILD SHOULD SEE AND HE AGREED BUT THEY DID NOT PULL ANY GUNS OUT AND I WAS YELLING LIKE A CRAZY MOFO.

@stoker: I mean it is fair to say that there are abusive cops, at the same time there are good ones. Kinda like saying there are good people and bad people in the world. After all cops are people too, not just robots programmed to serve and protect.

i am from canada. can confirm that our cops are awesome. they are so nice and respectful.

probably because we don't let any college drop out become a cop. i hear becoming a cop in vancouver is actually pretty damn hard. (needs decent grades in highschool and college. needs exceptional community service history.)

Yeah cops in the USA are mostly power abusing jerks that dont really "Protect & Serve", its usually more like "Question & Harass"
