I recently bought the Tales of Vesperia movie and loved it. I've also watched on YouTube and is currently looking for the Phantasia anime. I've also watched the Japanese only Symphonia anime and still watching Abyss.
If you guys didn't know, Tales of Symphonia 1 and 2 is getting an HD remake in 2014.
Also, Tales of Xilla 2 is getting localized, here's a trailer.

It's the first Tales of Xilla, not the second. 1st one isn't even out yet xD.
OT: Only played Tales of Grace and am only about 6-8 hours in, so I don't really have a favorite per say. Pre-ordered the collectors edition of Tales of Xilla though, so I'm pumped for that

I've played / watched people play Symphonia, Symphonia 2, Abyss, and Vesperia. Personality-wise, I think I like Jade from Abyss best. He's hilariously snarky.
I can't read Yuri's full name without mentally hearing all those in-game people who were like "Yu~[i]ri Lo[/i]-wllllll" when it was time for evil smack talking. Yuri's own voice was so low for his appearance it was kinda weird.
I hated Emil and Marta from Symphonia 2. Argh.
I liked Yuri, but I'll be honest I thought he was a girl until he spoke for the first time lol.
And even though a lot of people hate on Symphonia 2 on the wii, I thought Richter was cool. "Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality."
If I were to pick based on battle-style, Senel Coolidge from Tales of Legendia. I love bracer-fighters. Or possibly Pascal from Tales of Graces f. Her shot-stick was pretty interesting. Everyone's weapons were really fun to use in Graces, though.
If I were to pick based on personality, Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia; although that's basing it solely on the First Strike movie as I haven't had the pleasure of playing the game yet. [Vesperia PS3 localization when, Baba? ]
My favorite is Sync The Tempest from Tales of the Abyss.
If you are asking about playable characters though, my favorite is Luke fon Fabre.
