Fire Emblem if

For those that don't know what it is, here is the video from Nintendo Direct.

So basically (since I feel the need to repeat), the main character was born Hoshido, but he was raised in Nohr. Now both sides are at war and your forced to choose a side.

Both sides of the game are being sold separately, but you can pay an extra $20 for the DLC of the other half. There will also be a third option where you choose neither side.

First question: Who else is getting this?

Second question: Which side are you getting and which side would you choose on those circumstance? No third option though.

Personally, I'm probably going to get Nohr since that would be the side I would personally choose so it only makes sense that I would pick it.

I really been thinking about this for some time now.

Not sure how much attention it'll get you, considering I've been posting most of these in the Fire Emblem General on /vg/ anyways. I've already noticed people cropping my Paradise Competition images and reuploading them onto other places. You can take some of those third route images, since I haven't posted some of them yet. Also have a few other stuff I didn't show because they're really just minor things (generic unit stats/growths, Nohr/Hoshido route, kerning translation fixes.) Didn't bother uploading the Nohr/Hoshido route stuff because there's already people streaming both, but maybe the Nohr stuff will help considering nobody has finished it yet on stream (to my knowledge, at the very least.) If you want those then send me a PM and I'll pass them onto you.

FEif has online multiplayer, and it's actually quite excellent. The only aspects I dislike about it is that you're limited to 5v5 battles and that there's no maps with fog of war. If they would just bump it up to 10v10, it would bring about so much more variety in terms of team and skill set-ups .. But it's better than nothing!

I didn't even notice the feature was in the game until I was halfway through my Nohr save because it's placed under the extra's menu. Though, even after finding out about it, I didn't play very much of it because I was encountering a lot of Hoshido players under random normal battles that had already capped some units by utilizing Eternal Seals (those seals are damn expensive, it's 12,000 each) I'll get around to preparing my team(s) after playing through my current run with mostly generic units.

It's formatted like this under the extra's menu.

EDIT:
After @Dorks brought up the topic of DLC earlier, I decided to check the Nintendo CDN to see if there was any DLC available for the game (think about what happened to Smash 4 and the Lucas/Roy/Ryu leak. Nintendo sometimes uploads their data to the server way earlier in advance. Using certain methods, you can procure these downloads before the release date) just to make sure I wasn't feeding misinformation to her. To my surprise, there was a ton of stuff that was uploaded, and I managed to get my hands on all of them (most are unplayable, because actual data hasn't been implemented.)

I'll list everything I was able to get my hands on. Most will be labeled with a *, which means that only the title is uploaded, with no actual data being implemented.
- Third Route (fully playable, already on chapter 8 at the moment.)
- * Special Pack
- * Ruins of Treasure (gold farming/recruiting Anna, perhaps?)
- * Mountain of Fear (exp farming, probably. It seems that I was wrong. I should have been more thorough with my investigation before answering your question earlier. Sorry! @Dorks)
- * Duel Museum
- Paradise Competition (comparable to Summer Scramble in Awakening.)
- * Royalty's Strongest Battle
- * Cipher Marth
- Cipher Lucina
- * Encounter with Awakening

A few pictures I took so far. Don't mind the English translations, I'm trying to fix the kerning so my friend can actually understand what's going on when I lend the game over to her. Got basic menu/unit info translations down, but it crashes and corrupts my save when I try to translate reclass/skill options (happened to me on the third route, and I had to start all over. Ultimately decided to put it off until I actually finish the third route.)

http://oi58.tinypic.com/dcer13.jpg (Fog of war, and new mechanics that weren't in the Nohr/Hoshido routes.)
http://oi58.tinypic.com/2ir11mw.jpg (Kamui can promote into both Light Blood and Dark Blood)

http://oi61.tinypic.com/2kq6tf.jpg (Cipher Lucina)

EDIT 2:
Nearing the end of the third route, and it is full of plot twists.

http://oi58.tinypic.com/sn1auu.jpg (Gunter, is that you? No, perhaps you're someone else .. Oh, you share the same voice actor as Hydra .. Wait, what?)

I finished the chapter, and Gunter was actually being possessed by Hydra. Aqua sings and brings him back to his senses, and then he stabs himself for going against Kamui. What's funny is that he seemingly died during the cutscene, but he's under my unit list in the next chapter. Maybe I accidentally skipped a portion of the cutscene or something?

http://oi62.tinypic.com/2urqm9z.jpg (Astra to finish him, feels great.)

That concludes the third route on hard. Now I'm going to replay it on lunatic!

A lot of the bosses have blushing assets which go unused throughout the entire game (Iago included, none for Kumagara however.) I assume they'll be added in as Spotpass/DLC sometime in the near future.

There's no DLC for grinding yet.

Incoming spoilers.
Seems that I was wrong. I just finished both routes and you aren't blood related to any of the characters.
1. Mikoto had you with Hydra.
2. Hinoka, Takumi, Sakura, and Ryouma are the children of King Sumeragi and some unknown individual, probably dead.
3. No blood relation to anyone of Nohr, just really close.
You're just Mikoto's child as it stands right now, the other siblings aren't blood related to you at all. No half-inc3st, no half-siblings whatsoever. Technically, the loyalty vs. blood ordeal isn't a lie: Mikoto is still your blood relative, you're still Hoshidan.

Hopefully the third route will help clear things up further, since it's titled "Fire Emblem if : Invisible Kingdom" (Hydra is The Invisible Dragon.)

Playing through it again, just to see if I missed anything (especially to see if there's any hidden objective to saving Gunter from death.)

I hope everyone will enjoy the difficulty, because it's definitely a lot harder than Awakening. I played both routes on Lunatic, and Nohr is noticeably more difficult (most of the bosses have the splash damage skill, and many enemy units carry counter, magic counter, and snake venom post chapter 6. It gets worse after chapter 11, which is already brutal with all the snipers on that map) but Hoshido is no slouch itself. In any case, both routes are much more of a challenge when compared to Awakening.

In Phoenix mode, the characters will revive the next turn (in the middle of battle), making the game much easier. Personally, I like the challenge in Fire Emblem.

http://serenesforest.net/2015/05/13/...ls/#more-26446

This makes me wonder, how hard is this game for them to feel the need to add a "Phoenix Mode?" I imagine it implies that it is possible for all my characters to die in a single turn. I thought Awakening (in Classic ode anyways) was difficult on its own. I can't say I will miss the weapon durability though, that always annoyed me a bit.

It appears like the pairing up system is getting reamped and the Dragon Vein ability seems pretty cool too. They mentioned Earthquakes, which sounds like a massive attack.

More customization options are also a plus. Hopefully they have a good shade of blue.

Also, I doubt the breeding system from Awakening is coming back, meaning I won't have to think about who I pair up with who.

im planning on preordering FE14 as soon as its available. before that, im considering on going to websites like serenesforest and yotsuba-chan to get info about the game when its released on japan.
also, about the debate regarding the game's international release, from what i know, serenesforest hasnt said anything alarming about this. so its safe for me to assume that so far, there should be nothing to worry about.
in case people are wondering, serenesforest is a FE database, a goldmine of FE info.

@SoulBlade: like long time ago when they announced all this stuff. This stuff in the thread is actually a vit old. Irrc, one of the ppl on the FE team via twitter said they had no plans to release both copies to other regions and their would be dlc. An article also citing the twitter post, specifically said that it was Hoshido for which I do not know the article's source.

Edit: here is the thread of when I found out http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/2873468
@UAPaladin: LOL you really think they wouldn't lie to you about the size of the game they're selling before anything comes out?
I obviously have no way of validating the size of it, but size of fire emblem games is very hard to lie about due to the way that it's split into chapters, and 1 major battle comprises 1 chapter. So I believe that what they're saying is that it's about the same amount of chapters long as awakening. The only way that the games could be vastly different lengths even if they have relatively similar chapter numbers is if battles were much quicker, which in FE terms, would mean easier. Due to them emphasizing the difficulty of one side (making the each chapter take longer), and the other side having an overworld map like awakening, providing other things to do between chapters, I doubt that either side's playtime will be much shorter than awakening's if there are similar amounts of chapters (again, which I believe to be the case from what I said above).

Anyways, it's pointless to argue anymore about this. I believe the $70 for 2-3 games to be a better deal than $40 for one, and you believe that it's a worse deal. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion and we'll just have to see for ourselves when the game comes out to see if the lengths of each side are actually around awakening's size.

@UAPaladin: That's... even worse. So unless you pay more, you basically won't experience half of the story? I mean if each game is big enough, I guess it's worth it. But if the route difference is like in sacred stones then people are gonna be pissed.

I don't think you understand what this "DLC" is. They're releasing 2 different versions of the game (each is an entire game with a separate story, unlike pokemon where some things are just slightly changed). If you buy one version, you can then buy the other as DLC, which is much better and cheaper than paying a full $40 for a physical copy of the other story. There is also a third path that's available as DLC, but I'm not sure if that's going to be another full game within itself or not.

In other words, you can get 2 (+1 extra path which may or may not be a full game like the other 2) full games for $70. This seems less of a price grab than if they weren't DLC, because you'd have to pay the full $40 per game.
