The Left-Handed People
So I heard 10% of people are left-handed. That's a lot of people, but it's still pretty rare. So I've been thinking and I wonder, is left-handedness a mental illness? If science people look into it, they will probably discover a cure for left-handedness (maybe?). That would be nice for all the left-handed people who feel left out (no pun intended).
I don't know, what do you think? If science people discover that left-handedness is a mental illness, should they create a cure?

im left-handed, other than that i kick with my right leg
@DrBanana: Nope, I write with pen and dislike the bleed.
@YourPirateGuy: if you look at it their main dominant dribble hand was left
I'm not so sure who's actually left handed here, but I'm left handed.
i can write with my right hand, even if it looks like a first grader did it </3 plus my right hand is weak as s*bleep*. Not thanks lefty for life
I'm a lefty and I'm proud to be one! We will overtake the world one day, then we will laugh at you silly right-handed people living in a left-hand dominant world! Who's with me? (I'm not mental, I SWEAR!)
This video may interest you. He explains the slight difference between left handed, right handed, and ambidextrous people.
Left-handed people have shorter lifespans than right-handed people.
...... It comes from using your left hand more when you arre a kid
Setting the table is intended for right handed people. Sucks for em left handed people
I am not saying you are a weirdo, but wouldn't it be nice if you had a choice to be right-handed if you wanted to be?
no, rightys suck
@mikeee lol yeah bruh i cant support that baseball statement! lefty herre
This thread just craps all over science in so many different ways that it hurts.
Left-handed note-taking looks awful.
The spirals look like they hurt after 5 minutes.
left hand master race reporting
i find left handed/left footed ppl way more appealing to me. right handed ppl are soOoo mainstream (me)
"Judging from prehistoric human cave drawings, tools, and hand and arm bones, this veer to the right occurred long ago (Carballis, 1989; Steele, 2000). Right-handedness prevails in all human cultures. Moreover, it appears prior to culture's impact. Ultrasound observations of fetal thumb-sucking reveal that more than 9 in 10 fetuses suck the right hand's thumb (Hepper et al., 1990, 2004). This bias for the right hand is unique to humans and to the primates most like us: chimpanzees and bonobos (Hopkins, 2006). Other primates are more evenly divided between lefties and righties."
"So is it all right to be left-handed? Judging by our everyday conversation, left-handedness is not all right. To be "coming out of left field" is hardly better than to be "gauche" (derived from the French word for "left". On the other hand, right-handedness is "right on", which any "righteous" "right hand man" "in his right mind" usually is.
Left-handers are more numerous than usual among those with reading disabilities, allergies, and migraine headaches (Geschwind & Behan, 1984). But in Iran where students report which hand they write with when taking the university entrance exam, lefties outperform righties in all subjects (Noroozian et al., 2003). Left-handedness is also more common among musicians, mathematicians, professional baseball and cricket players, architects, and artists, including such luminaries as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Picasso. Although left-handers must tolerate elbow jostling at the dinner table, right-handed desks, and awkward scissors, the pros and cons of being a lefty seem roughly equal."
Left handed people make the best ball handlers for basketball
No lie most of the greatest point guards and guys with the best handles were all left handed
Ex: AI3, Magic, CP3, Kiwi, Tim Hardy, ETC
AI, Magic, CP3, Tim were all right handed basketball players. Shot the ball using right hand.
it would be a waste of a cure. I don't mind being left handed it seems to be a good ice breaker for some
the only annoyance was in high school when i wrote paragraphs due to pencil smudging
left handed people are witches
So, that means... I CAN DO MAGIC? <3 <3 <3
i noticed left-handed people are generally smarter.. but i might be biased because i'm a lefty ^__^
left handed people are witches
The cure would be just practicing things with your right hand.
@MostSwagNA: Hogwash. The REAL smartest person is in hiding, cuz he/she knows if his/her brilliance is discovered, it would mean the end of the world. o.o
No, being left-handed is not an illness. People tend to have a right side bias. It's interesting to think if people didn't have a right side bias.. could that mean that the number of lefties and righties would be about split even?
I'm left-handed.. too :o
there are literal scholarships for lefties. so jeal
Same reason they're all buff, 6'2", top of their class, in med school, and got a 2400 on their SATs.
Don't forget experienced Politicians, professional lawyers, exercise experts, professional athletes, professional artists, well known biologists...
lmfao.
Well I have a friend who's lefty but when he was like 5 he didnt like that everyone else was right, so he just had his mom teach him how to write righty.
@Hatchet maybe it's possible that all the lefties were attracted to this thread because it pertains only to them?
Why do people on this site lie about being left-handed
so far everyone in this thread said they were left-handed, stop trying to seem so unique
I am left-handed, and judging from my life-long experiment (I have a right-handed twin brother), lefties are in fact superior to right-handed people.
I write with my left but do everything else with my right. Not sure why people would want to be right-handed.
I highly doubt it's anything close to a mental illness.
I usually use my left hand for writing and tennis.
Other things i use my right.
Like if i draw a "bow" and "arrow" i use my right.
But i wish there were left handed desks.
Same as above, I play most sports right handed but I write lefty.
I'm left handed but I taught myself to use my right hand for simplicity at times.
I play guitar right handed since it's easier to find right handed guitars.
I would like to be ambidextrous

Wel handedness isn't permanent...
And most people can do non-writing activities with both hands anyway.
