Android Phones Suck

I genuinely gave Android OS a chance and it just sucks. Everyone was saying how swiping on the keyboard was so great; I type slower than I did on my iPhone, which had a really small screen for my thumbs in the first place. The OS is so fragmented and the icons look way worse than iOS 7; at least they TRY to make it look good on iOS. The apps just look so much better on the iPhone. And everyone raved about rooting and custom ROMS; they suck and make me want to puke at their ugliness. It's so ugly. By the way, I have the HTC One so it's not a "low-end" phone so I got the complete Android experience. Seriously, like surfing the web is painful on Chrome; it was so easy on Safari. iPhones give you a solid experience and a feeling that every component was thought out from the colors to even the shapes and transitions; Android is sloppy and every part of the system works in a separate way. On iOS 7 for instance, the swipe to delete is universal; compare that to the menu button and swiping on the Android. The menu button pops up here or there; never in the same spot and swiping left and right is available on Google Maps, but not in Chrome? What is this? iPhone sure don't have as much customization or do as many things as Android phone but at least it's a solid experience; iPhones do what you want them to do beautifully with no gimmicks like the Samsung Galaxy S4. Like who needs all that bloatware to measure humidity and stuff? What? And even the stock Android is no match for iOS 7; just sayin'.

TL;DR: Android phones suck; don't buy them! Get the iPhone; you won't be regretting like me.

I have both the HTC One running stock 4.3.3 and an iPhone 5 running jailbroken iOS 6.1.1, so don't you dare give me that hurrdurr fandroid garbage. I've actually used iOS longer than Android, too.

The HTC One is so much better than the iPhone 5; let me compare the two phones right now, which are both around the same price:

Sound: The HTC One destroys the iPhone 5. The default preamp and front-facing speakers blow the iPhone's crappy bottom speakers out of the water.
Display: The HTC One (1080x1920) beats the iPhone 5 (640x1136) in ppi and resolution.
Processor: The HTC One again.
Internal Storage: 32GB on the HTC One ($650) versus 32GB on the iPhone 5 ($750).
Camera: The iPhone has a better rear-facing camera while the HTC One has a better front-facing camera (though most people don't use that anyways).
Hardware: the HTC One destroys the iPhone 5.

Music Player: Play Music is good, though I really like iOS' ease-of-use for their Music app. Too bad Android's third-party music players are better than both Play Music and Music combined. iOS has a trash equalizer, no UI customization, no explorer, and requires iTunes (an awful and bloated music player) to use iOS' music app.
GPS: Google Maps versus Apple Maps. There's a clear winner.
Apps: Android has better productivity apps while iOS undoubtedly beats Android in most other departments.
Ecosystem: iOS is way less fragmented, though if you're running a Nexus/GE (which the HTC One can do), you're fine.
YouTube: Android > iOS
Google Apps: Google's productivity apps are amazing and destroy iOS'. Google Maps is better than Apple Maps, YouTube (Android) is better than YouTube (iOS), Drive is better than any other cloud storage iOS offers, Currents is much cleaner than Newstand, E-mail is about the same on both OSs, Google Now destroys Siri in terms of functionality, clock is better on Android, pretty much all of Android's default apps are better than iOS' default apps.
Icons: Android icon packs > iOS7 icons > default Android icons > iOS6 icons
Uniformity: iOS wins because there are <10 iPhones (~3 of them are still considered current), but thousands of Android phones.
Browser: Mobile Safari can't render high-resolution or high-density web pages as well as Mobile Chrome, though Safari is more stable. Chrome has better functionality in general though desktop Chrome Sync.
Security: iOS has more 15x more vulnerabilities than Android. It's been proven, go look it up.
Rooting vs Jailbreaking: Though they're not really that similar, jailbreaking an iPhone will give you functionality you would normally get from stock Android, while rooting your Android device gives you some nice abilities (custom ROMs [though OP flashed the wrong ones for UI beauty], AdBlock, root explorers, microUSB-to-USB [for reading flash drives], etc).
Software: Android is arguably superior, though Apple undeniably maintains a less fragmented operating system

iOS7 has tons of UI similarities to 4.3.3 so I have no idea what BS OP is spouting; he practically exaggerated everything and it seems like he's only used his HTC One for <1 week. I mean, iOS has its own charms, but it has huge disadvantages. OP decided it was okay to only list Android's cons and iOS' pros.

I've used iOS since iOS2 (remember when you couldn't change your home background, no multi-tasking whatsoever, and no notifications?) and Android since 2.3.3 (remember when Android sucked enormous donkey nuts?). iOS (I think it was iOS4.4 or iOS5.1/2) was way superior than Android until late ICS, but JellyBean 4.1 (especially 4.2) blew iOS5/6 out of the water.

However, at least we can all agree that W8 Phone is tiers worse than iOS and Android.
Yes, Android phones have better hardware and are more capable but where it loses is in the software department; the iOS software is optimized for the iPhone while the Android is fragmented. The fragmentation destroys the possibility of a solid user experience that's seamless and uniform.

Edit: For instance, compare an iPhone 5 to a Samsung Galaxy S4; sure the S4 has better specs but real-world use shows that iPhones, despite have inferior hardware still load apps faster and run games smoother at a higher fps. Benchmarks don't count for crap; user experience does.
...Where did I mention hardware in my statement...?

technically you can do all of that customization on iphone you just need to be jailbroken

I see what you mean OP. Who the hell needs customization [Androids] when it [the iPhone] is perfect in the first place?

@terminator123 you display the true definition of ignorance. Some is incompetent because they like something that millions of people also like? Get off your high horse.
@Ecyz hey, nobody else has made a thread like this. His argument is somewhat valid and at least he's not another internet-Android-circle-jerker.

But in all honesty, if I were choosing a smartphone (I don't have one), I'd just get whatever is cheaper but still popular. So probably an Android.

not sure why anyone would ever get their panties in a twist over a phone. i text and call, so i'm not going to pay for another phone over a couple of small features that most consumers don't care about.

I have an Iphone5 myself. It is a great phone. All I really use it for is to call/text, facebook/twitter/instagram, take pics, play a few apps here and there and thats about it. The iphone also looks nice and as soon as you slide to unlock, you have all the apps right in front of you. It's simple and it works nicely. I used my friends s3 the other day and it just felt bulky and didn't like it. Haters can hate, but iphone 5 is the best smart phone in the market.... in my opinion at least

Why do fandroids get so much more butthurt than iSheeps? Seriously, just accept the fact that a locked down OS with a solidly smooth UI is better than a fragmented messy one with gimmicks. Who even uses NFC? Who needs a pre-installed step counter? Who wants to tilt their heads to scroll down when touching the screen is easier? What people do like is a gorgeous and reliable OS like the iOS 7.
What android phone did you use?
HTC One, which I took the liberty of getting rid of Sense 5 and trying out CyanogenMod and stock Android. So yes, I did give Android OS a fair chance. Unless KeyLime Pie can bring in more centralization, it won't be a match for iOS 7.

So you used an Android for a day after being used to iOS for a few years and you can't get used to it. Definitely not biased here.
Seems like that's what happened when Windows users switched from 7 to 8.

1st complaint: Install the iPhone Keyboard. You can't install custom keyboards on iOS.
2nd complaint: Calling rooting "ugly" is not a valid complaint. If you want to say it takes a while and you have to fiddle with some command-line packages, then you might have a point there, though I seem to recall there's all-in-one EXE's to root/unlock bootloaders over at xda-developers. It's just as easy as pressing one button on your jailbreak app.
3rd complaint: Uh, get a new browser? You can install new browsers on both iOS and Android.
