@nolen: Most banks insure your money up to a certain amount. So even if someone were to commit fraud and steal your money, the bank will cover the amount loss. It's one of the trade offs of using a bank. They use your money for investments, but they also cover losses that may occur while you are 'invested' into their company.
I highly recommend getting a credit card and a bank account at a young age and building up your credit score. Also open up a retirement saving account and put 5% of each paycheck into it as well as a mortgage account of 10%. This may seem like a waste of money in your teenage years but is well worth it by the time you reach your thirties and even more so when you wish to retire. Housing prices continue to rise, and paying for a house in cash or with a huge down payment will ultimately save you much more money down the road, as a mortgage is usually life's most expensive venture.
Something like $3k, but I'm in college, I don't currently have a real job, and my parents pay for pretty much everything for me. I just use that money for when I want to buy something trivial that I'd feel bad to have my parents pay for, like a new game or something. I'm trying to save up like $1k more though and then I'll spend about $2k on building a computer.
2.3k. sadly lost job but not sadly i still live with parent. just dont be destructive/dumb, live with parents and have a full time job and having 5k+ isnt that difficult
Work part-time, live with my parents, all expenses covered by parents since i'm in college. Have almost 2k in the bank but it's not on a sufficient or speedy rise due to the 1 bill my father has passed down to me , which is the auto insurance.
I had roughly $5,000 saved up until I decided to just dump it all into my student loans. I still have around $4,500 in loans left (finally...) which is easypeasy. So at the moment, I have roughly... $500? *waits anxiously for next pay period*
About $700 because i just got my taxes which make up most of it and the federal government seems to think if you clear over $20,000 for 1 year you are doing great and on your way to becoming rich, which is sadly not true, im broke most of the time and the only consistent thing in my life besides bills is the $200 a month going to my ortho and $43.20 monthly phone bill and of course theres groceries, and im living at home, so you can basically double my bills if i was living on my own
Im working on lowering the money i need to pay out where possible, already got my orthodontist payments going down to 160, gonna have $200 less per month to pay just for the house in about a month, then i can save some money
