Do you still remember the elementary school days?

Well do you? Do you remember playing those zany games in the playground during recess and lunch break? Talk about it here.

I used to live in China so I didn't play no north american kiddie games until I actually came to north america namsayin.

Pogs were still a thing in China after the beginning of the 21st century. Yu-gi-oh cards were catching up at the time.
Instant noodle/Cheetos collectible cards were also a thing. If you've lived in China at the time you'll know that these cards used to be mad popular. http://i.imgur.com/9A4FnM8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/r6bMWOx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/02ZcGdE.jpg FO REEL (Yes, Chinese Cheetos had cards. Bugles came with micro comic books with mostly Shin Chan ones).
Elementary kids loves their riddles. They're usually a bit offensive and violent and gross and they become viral pretty fast. A lot of kids (mainly boys) in the same school knew this one riddle. They do dances to it as they say the riddle. It's not really a dance, but more like a weird game of Twister without the mat.
I've played with girls, too. I like to hit on lil ghurls namsayin. Even though the games were far more boring. But they weren't that bad, just less zany, and I like zany stuff more so yeah.
Snowball fight and building snowmen is a must during winter.
Chinese shuttlecocks. You kick them around. Some were also made out of sewn dice-shaped bags filled with tiny pebbles.
Chicken leg fight. Actually, my grandfather taught me it. He's not native to the region where I was born (northeast China). He's from middle China and speaks with a funny accent which I've always made fun of. But our accent was far more ghettoer than their people's.
Oh yeah, and everyone had a nickname. Big head, the follower kid, etc.

After I came to Canada, recess had been pretty boring. Less zany stuff, more sports, I suppose. But I remember playing fenceball. You throw tennis ball at a baseball diamond. Or you throw it against the school building wall. Or I just played catch. I don't remember liking anything else.

Yeah besides the games and all, I remember having a crush on this girl when I was in grade 2 or so. I talked to her and followed her all the way to the washroom and almost went into the girl's washroom by accident. I know it sounds crazy to have a crush at that age. I was pretty much part of the "girls sucks" club. Boys and girls don't get alone and they usually fight verbally and I thought it was pretty funny. It's usually the white guy English teachers (laowai teachers) that are able to break them up without using any threat. Anyways, I had a huge crush on her prolly because she laughed at everything I said. And she was like the cutest and nicest girl in my class, for real. Of course I knew no one would actually like girls at that age (except one of my friends, just one, and he always came up with those perverted riddles) so I thought I'd actually have a chance with her. And in fact, I did. But she was too small to fully understand that sorta stuff. But we did become pretty good friends. We used to hug each other when the teachers took photos of us. So basically, I got more game back in grade 2 than I do now.

So to sum it up, I had the most fun back in elementary school back in China, had the largest social circle, most friends, and most fun. My life right now (grade 12 in Canada) is almost the exact opposite. I've come to this realization just now.
i was the king of handball. hit hardies way past the lines, threw in a few sneaky cross-country sliceez. played tetherball, hit em hard and watched em swirl. jumped over balls in dodgeball, quick reflexes. threw them hard, made kids cry. kickball, loved catching the ball and getting people out. had a great kick as well. basketball was my favorite though. i remember hitting a 3 right before the recess bell rang and as everyone froze, i smiled. i went on to make many half-court and clutch shots throughout my basketball career. damn, it was so fun! sprouted my love for sports.
I loved reading this, lol.
And I would hate to knock ya down, but I was the king of handball. >=) lol
I remember there was this guy named Ralph when I was in Elementary. He could throw a football 60+ yards when he was in the 5th grade.
We would always have him serve because he could hit the ball harder than anybody else, besides me.
I had some serious slicee potential and I had a lot of power too. I played a match for 45 minutes one time where slicees were extremely common among the top-tier players of our class.
That was the best feeling, y'know? Being regarded as one of the people who was "good" at handball. Then there were those match ups with other "good" players that were extremely high ticket for your reputation, rofl.
The sad thing is that I picked up a ball of sorts not too long ago, and tried to slicee... man was I out of shape. I have the most vivid memories of some of the NASTIEST slicees you could ever imagine. Cross country too. Sliceeeing somebody out was practically the same feeling that a pitcher has when he strikes somebody out in ball. "get outta here." you think as you claim the ball and stare down your next opponent, who is in too much shock to approach as he stands in the line.
I can also remember absolutely rushing out of class to get the courts that didn't have another wall behind it. The ones on the end. Oh man... then once every while your crush would line up. Jeez. I feel like a kid again.

It was good times. I remember playing handball in California, then when I moved to Colorado nobody knew what it was but they thought I was talking about wallball.
4 square.
Freeze tag.

Recess was a good experience.
I was 100x more shy in elementary school though, and I always think how much farther I would be by now if I'd just been outgoing back then.

@Zoneflare4: Nope, I live in a pretty big, diverse community. And as for the budget cuts, that might be, but i never knew because as a kid I was not concerned about that type of stuff. I mean, we even had to pay for lunch/breakfast at school, they would get money out of you any way they could...well, thats CPS for ya.

In elementary school I went to this private k-8 school that was super tiny. We had about 60-70 kids total if you combined all the grades. I was there from kindergarten to 6th grade (7th and 8th grade I went to 2 different schools). I had a lot of fun there despite it being super tiny.

I remember my friends and I used to play some of the usual games like freeze tag and hide and seek, but we also had our own version of dodgeball that I loved to play. We'd basically draw a big circle on the ground and 2-3 people would stand on the outside of the circle, while everyone else stood on the inside. The throwers had 1 ball that they'd throw into the circle to try and hit someone while passing it between each other (if it didn't hit anyone the other thrower was already standing where the ball was thrown to try and quickly throw it again and catch someone). If someone got hit by the ball, they'd move to the outside of the circle and become a thrower as well. The more people that got hit, the harder it got to keep dodging. There was only 1 ball, but they could pass the ball fast and try to get someone catching, then throwing the ball from your blindspot before you could fully turn towards them.

We also made up games like pretending to be pokemon and make pokemon sounds, or pretending to be saiyans and "power up" while yelling, etc. And once I was in 4th/6th grade (skipped 5th grade) there was a little corner where we'd sit and play gameboy (usually pokemon red/blue) and sometimes someone would bring an extension cable so we could trade/battle each other. Good times those days lol. 6th grade was also when I started to like girls, but was afraid to tell them. Had a crush on my best friend's cousin lol.

Bakugan and Yu-gi-oh cards were pretty much the best thing to have when I was in Elementary.
I made tons of friends, and I hang with them every summer. It let me move on from the amount of bullying I got in day care. Gosh. who bullies in day care.

Elementary school was a pretty good time. During recesses and lunches we played tag, freeze tag, Marco Polo, and there were Inuyasha trading cards (insanely popular in my grade) and Yugioh cards.

Ah.. elementary was amazing.
Had a lot of friends and birthday parties, never missed any.

However, high school (is) and (was) a hell (done I'm finished in 1 week and I only have 3 exams to go).
I switched school 4 times and it was horrible.
I'm too lazy to write my history down, and it's way too long and personal.

Let's say that I'm glad that I am graduated.

Oh man Elementary was awesome
Things were so chill and no stress whatsoever for me
You didn't have to worry about you exams, your future life, career expectations etc that you do when you enter highschool
It was fun being ignorant of your responsibilities

@RobThreezy: Do you live in a small community or a place that had to suffer extreme cuts like Oregon did?

I like kindergarten to 2nd. I can't remember anything. I like lunch, nap time and recess. After 2nd grade my some of my teachers were real female dogs and I experienced bullying. I didn't like school very much. I like learning new things and memorizing trivia but looking back I don't think my parents were very involved in my education. I wish they were more involved in my education and parenting but they were always working.
those days were hell. moved around a lot so I could never make friends. MIddle school was better
My days in middle school was pure hell. my social circle shrunk like crazy. This one Indian kid tormented me every single day. I wish I could slap him in the face again. Not punch him, but slap him. Really hard. I used to play with him during lunch time but he suddenly got all witty and started tormenting me. I became incredibly shy unlike how I used to be. I couldn't make friends and I didn't feel like making friends, either. I just wanted to stay home.
Things got better during hs. But my social circle shrunk once again.

Lolwtf? Damn man my childhood was no better than yours, but from what I remember, back in elementary school? Psh, Maaaaaan ! Those were the days!..
I never had recess at my schools, but after school I would always go to the playground, which conveniently was a block down from my house. Whoo boy I tell ya, the things I would get into back in the day... (Continues reminiscing)

I was bullied in elementary. My name rhymed with gay, so it was, you know, very lonely for me.

The only things I played with were beyblades.

Dang that sucks yo. I remember everyone back in elementary school was really nice until I moved to Canada, where I was constantly bullied by a couple of girls.
My childhood in Canada was lame AF.
