Do cheesy pickup lines work?

So, ladies and gents. Do they work? Have you ever used any and succeeded?

Ladies, how likely are you to give a guy a chance where he to use a (cheesy) pickup line on you?

Edit: I may or may not be contemplating using one.....

Not much, but they work better on people who are already interested in you.

I enjoy cheesy jokes/puns. But not cheesy pick up lines. I think the cheesy pick up lines will only work if you're already in a flirtationship with the girl.

You'll most likely get one of two responses:
1. A friendly chuckle.
2. Ew, who is this creepy loser?

Works smoothly.
"Hey girl, if you were a potato, you'd be a good potato."
I struck her heart that night.

There is close to a 100% chance that it will NOT work.

My girlfriend asked me out with a cheesy pickup line. Then again, we're both really cheesy.

I guess it depends on the context, who you're talking to, and what you're trying to accomplish.
no wtf, don't do pick up lines. Are you really f ing srs op? Talking to her isn't hard. Get out of your little anxiety bubble and actually talk to people.
don't be like this guy, b/c all you're going to do is put the pus on the pedestal your whole life. DO NOT USE PICK UP LINES.
if you dont know the person, then youre right. But if you do know the person pretty well, pick up lines are just to make someone laugh.

@ThotsRUs: Cool. I am just going to assume you have women issues or are a troll and leave it at that.

No, for the most part.
MAYBE, if you're friends with the girl already.

Try this:

"How much do you weigh?....Enough to break the ice, fatass."

You believe a pick up line puts someone on a pedestal and don't see that as odd. That's the problem.

yes. at the last high school christian LAN my friend Dahvid used one on a girl he liked and it worked. He said "God led me to your beautiful body, he told me that we are meant to be together" she pretty much melted in his arms. sadly it didnt work out and they broke up three days later.

I feel pick up lines are supposed to make the person laugh (or at least smile). Then you continue the conversation from there.

But, like others have said, it depends on the situation
Do you know the person?
How close are you two?
Are they the type of person to laugh at the pick up lines

I can't say cheezy pick up lines because I'm lactose intolerant.

Pick up lines are meant to be funny. It does depend to who you talk to. I recommend someone you know well. Don't be shy to try them haha.

Unless you're like, really cute and you come off as not-a-jerk or slightly awkward but in a charming way, chances are it's not gonna work. Even if you think you can pull that off, don't lol.

They can but it depends on the situation. The rare times I do it, I kinda poke fun at myself, because who doesn't like to laugh. Like I might follow it up with "yeah, I know, I'm cheesy, but I was so distracted by your beauty that I couldn't come up with anything that wouldn't be in a Supa Fly movie."

There are also other ways to do it too. Like yesterday I was texting someone that I am about to ask on a date, and I sent two text messages:

1) You know who's amazingly beautiful?
2) Read the first word again.

The person's response to that included; dorky, cheesy, but most importantly, cute.

@capricious It makes your first impression very low. Using any sort of pickup line pretty much says that you have no game and need to rely on lines from other people.

@Candiia: Fair enough, I won't ask. BUT, would it at least serve as a "decent" ice-breaker to lead into a hello, small chit-chat, and other stuff? Or did I just royally screw myself? Assuming she actually laughed/is still standing there, giving you the time of day.

@SoulBlade: True... true...

I would really not like to hear a pickup line, but it would probably make me laugh. Dont ask why.

Most likely, no. Very slim chance it would actually amuse a girl.
