Just logged in first time in years. The last time I remember about basil is a Korean nationalist calling me a retard for not knowing history (tried looking through my comment history and seems like he got banned lol).

There are a few reasons why I stopped being active on basil: the childishness of many users, disappearing people, and mostly, the changed layout interface. When I was in high school, Basil was a truly enjoyable place. I remember @BobR helped me out so much with my computer problems and another person who helped me with my freshman computer science class. I was immature and was also the one who prone to getting into flame wars.

I guess I just grew out of it, being called a retard out of blue and replying to pointless flame. Now I just go on Reddit, where flame culture is much smaller than Basil during 2011-2015. And the new layout as well, it's just too... dis-likable (this is coming from someone who generally likes new updates, even the abomination windows vista and 8). This layout is very wide and empty which greatly contrasts to the comfortable compact interface of the past; and much of the links are glitchy (such as the "liked" under the "me" tab directs you back to homepage). My monitor was generally small so it's less compatible with the new layout.

Either way, I've never really had a chance to leave a goodbye message to this forum; although most people probably wouldn't remember me (I was more active rather than known/famous). It's still nice to see some users/avatars that I recognize and I had a great time here.

Just logged into my account for the first time in a long time. Turns out next month will be my basil account's 10 year anniversary, feels like just yesterday I signed up and was buying red work gloves on the auction.

@alexislord: It probably has something to do with ad blockers. I had to pause ad block thing so the page layout things could fix itself and make things clickable again, dood.

A friend back in elementary school introduced me to basilmarket for ingame trading. Initially I used the website for guides, as the years went by, I go into buying and selling. What I really miss is the old Basilmarket layout.

@fade2black: when mr basil brought back profil3, it looks identical to bzl. I think he's been using that to test bzl features. He hasn't mentioned profil3 ever since he made bzl.

It's still less than basil population wise, but I think there's some other people who don't use basil use that site.

@deeemon: When I meant "still in the game", I didn't mean literally the game of MapleStory. Last time I played MapleStory, reaching level 30 was an accomplishment.

To anyone still in the game literally, how has MapleStory been these days? Might check it out someday.

@beefly: So, how active is bzl? More or less dead than Basil?

Do you guys remember Profil3? mrbasil pretty much made a social networking site for basilmarket. So when Profil3 was discontinued, it helped caused fewer people to show on Basil. Less interaction created this cycle of declining interaction.

Or maybe it was fewer people showing up on Basil that caused Profil3's demise but I think it was more of the former.

@audio: Hey, I remember you too. Remember all those Basil conventions back in the day? I mean I probably wouldn't go to one but still.

@staplemory: That sucks to hear. But to be honest, if I was mrbasil I would be thinking why bother trying to improve this site if no one's going to show up. Like I said before, it's all a cycle.

@tyrantblade: Hey Tyrantblade. I hope everything will be alright for you. I'm also in the majority population where life could be better but it could be a lot worse. I'm experiencing that usual saying where the days go by slow, years go by fast. Doing the same routine over and over. You don't remember those usual days so life goes by so fast. It's July already? It swear it feels like March.

Everyday I'm aware of this and try to break that cycle. There's so many things I want to do in my life but don't have the money or time. Life can be hard and I know firsthand that living at home isn't ideal. But at the same time I've come to appreciate life and never take anything I have like friends, family, health for granted.

I occasionally peruse these forums from time to time for nostalgia purposes. Honestly Mr B dungoofed when he decided to change the way you log onto this site, we lost quite a few personalities that kept the forums interesting.

I play an old fashion maple server with my brother, new maple is pretty trash, havent basilled in years either. Basil used to have some creative trolls so i liked to go on it. It also had some good art. Now basil pretty garbage havent been here in like 2 years

Barely here, I make a few posts every so often. Don't play anymore.

I check around here every now and then if I get bored enough.

Life is sort of meh, I try to stay busy and happy, but sometimes I hate life and all i can do is try to keep passing time.

A couple months back I drank way too much alcohol along with a bunch of zzz-quill pills, but I survived, only thing that happened is I got sick and slept all day and stayed sick all week.

Life is starting to look better, but really it won't get better until my younger brother starts working again so I won't somehow have to cover his portion of the bills.

Living at home still it's me, him, and our mom; so it's great if we all have a job,otherwise it's hard.

Also I'm close to being done with braces, it'll find out when I get them removed in one of the next two appointments probably; then it's 2 expensive permanent tooth implants to complete my smile.

I am still alive.

My old account is gone apparently, recently downloaded maple again after playing since 06, this is all traumatic.

I started using this site back in 2009 but I don't think anyone would have remembered me except some friends I've made.

Both maple and this site suck balls now. I'm not just talking about the community but the design/layout of this site changed for the worst, and the useful features it used to have are all gone.

It's fine if you get locked out of your account as long as you don't have your main MS characters added on the account you were being locked out on. Otherwise that would be a horrible thing to happen and Mr. B rly screwed up big time. But I don't think he care. He only seems to care about his new s--tty site.
