x - 1(12-x) = 38
x -(1*12) + (1*x) = 38
x - 12 + x = 38
x - 12 + 12 + x = 38 + 12
x + x = 50
2x = 50
x = 50 / 2
x = 25.

ITS THERE! I FOUND IT
I believe this was meant to fool people with the double negatives.
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x = 38
x = 25
I'm curious what kind of experiment this is...
Is it to do with how people solve it?
(First year university if that's required)
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38
2x=50
x=25
Hmm...
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38
2x=50
x=25
x-(12-x) = 38
x-12+x = 38
2x = 50
x = 16+9
wow wtf you guys i got -26
Why find x, she's never coming back..
x-(12-x)=38
X-12+X=38
2X-12=38
2X=50
X=25
teehee~ learned this like 2 years ago?
i like how some people are just copying someone else work
and just paste it and comment it
Experiment my butt
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x = 38
2x -12 = 38
2x = 50
x = 25
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38
+12 +12
2x=50
/2 /2
x=25
EDIT:If you need the info, I'm a 7th grade student but I'm in Algebra
x-(12-x)=38 (Distributive Property of Equality)
x -12 + x = 38 (Addition Property of Equality)
x + x = 50 (Addition Property of Equality)
2x = 50 ( Division Property of Equality)
x = 25 (Reflexive? Property of Equality)
Is that what Reflexive is?
I never understood the last step.
You did it wrong if I can remember Algebra I and Geometry from a long time ago.
x-(12-x)=38 (Given.)
x -12 + x = 38 (Distributive Property of Equality.)
x + x = 50 (Addition Property of Equality.)
2x = 50 (Addition Property of Equality.)
x = 25 (Division Property of Equality.)
But parenthesis mean multiply.... wow I passed all algebra and still..
Not if there is another sign there. is 2 + (5 +1), 12?
25, like everyone else said. If explained how to do it, a third grader could figure it out.
And I believe this information your getting is flawed, since people will probably do the following:
A. Not answer it if they don't know the answer
B. Copy from someone else
C. Troll and say some other number

We found X a million years ago, but it is still unknown.
Do I have to show my work? Cause I did it in my head. x=25
x-(12-x)=38
Found it. It was in 2 places.
But parenthesis mean multiply.... wow I passed all algebra and still..
x-(12-x)=38
x = 32.42222
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38
2x-12=38
2x=50
x=25
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38
2x-12=38
2x=50
x=25
I doubt it's an experiment, but:
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38
2x=50
x=25
x-(12-x)=38
x - 12 + x = 38
2x - 12 = 38
2x = 50
x = 25
done
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x
2x-12x
12+38
2x=50
x=25
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38 Distribute the (-) to both the '12' and the '-x'
x+x-12=38
2x-12=38 Combine like terms (x)
2x=50 Subtract "12" from both sides
x=25 Divide each side by 2 to solve for x
x-(12-x) = 38
x-12+x = 38
2x = 50
x = 25
Like everybody else said, x = 25
Pretty simple.
No this has nothing to do with Basilmarket.
x-(12-x)=38
x-12+x=38
2x-12=38
2x=50
x=25
Are you testing basil's average intelligence in order to show that most of us aren't very smart when we consider ourselves smart usually?
x-(12-x)=38
Oh I can't answer it, it's already been said
Is this a pseudo-psychological experiment in which you do not inform your audience of the true subject of analysis?
x=25
Somewhat I just needed a subject from the internet (more specially not from my community)
AP Psychology ah
What grade are you in Ickest?
