Picking a dog
Hey basil. So my parents FINALLY approved of letting me own a dog but we are unsure on what kinds of breeds we should get. We were thinking of getting either a pomeranian, border collie, or a shih tzu as a beginner dog since we are not experienced.
Pomeranian: small and cute but sheds A LOT
Border Collie: good but my mom thinks it will be too big when it grows up
Shih Tzu: my dad likes them for some reason lol.
Suggestions?

D'AWWWWWW it literally looks like a Webkinz.
a corgi, a beagel or a sharpei
Pomeranians look so cute.
I have a Pomeranian myself, and I can say with the utmost confidence that they are incredibly feisty. Give them any reason to bark and they'll take it and exploit it to no end. I've had my dog bark at a falling pinecone for god's sake. But they're absolutely adorable when mellow, so put some work into training them.
Also be warned not to let them wander around so much, their fur tends to pick up all sorts of brambles and leaves. I could swear my dog looked like he went commando after a morning walk once.
we had a border collie and they're extremely smart and loyal! i love mine!
but if i were to get another dog it would be a corgi
TOO CUTE
Do NOT get a border collie as a first time dog owner. They require a lot of energy and work. Sure, they are the smartest breed of dog, but they will use that intelligence for the worst, if not exercised properly. Assuming you'll be the one training and exercising the dog, it will be very time consuming. They need a lot of exercise; many live on farms. If your family cannot take the shedding, which is a lot, then I would suggest a shih tzu. You will still need to constantly groom but it will not be as excessive as a Pomeranian.
A jackshiht.
Jack russel + Shihtzu
Get a pom pom they're so incredibly cute x-x
I would get a Pomeranian just because it's so cute. <3
corgi, or a shiba inu
or a jindo ^-^
Alsatian or Shih Tzu
Yorki
i dont see a point in small dogs. they become things on the ground that you have to watch out for because you don't want to step on them.
i prefer bears like chow chows. or wolves like huskies. none of that small tiny dogcats. useless
Border Collie: They don't get very big in comparison to other breeds. They are the smartest dog in the world and are extremely loyal, but they do have disadvantages like any other breed. They need lots of exercise. They were bred to herd sheep on extremely long distances, so if you don't take it out every day to run around for awhile, it'll get restless and may be a bit hectic indoors. You need lots of space and preferably a house. They like to chew so do have lots of toys or things you don't mind getting destroyed available or it may turn to furniture. WOULD NOT be my first recommendation to a first-time dog owner unless you have some sort of experience and lots of patience.
THIS collies are very energetic and learn fast unlike those small annoying dogs u might step on and accidentally kill i know a relative who is overweight sat on his chihuahua and he need a new dog....
Dog to eat or to own?
@Snooki
omg so kawaii
Just don't get any labs/lab mixes (Labradoodle for example) Don't get me wrong, I have a Labradoodle, amazing dog, but it is not a beginner dog. A LOT of work.
@GAubertin: thanks for the input
I say go for a cockapoo. My friend got one last year for his first dog and she's a wonderful family dog. She doesn't shed, doesn't bark, doesn't require much attention, loves walking, but she does also love to chew. They don't get very big but remain cute for their entire life.
Dat name.
Do they stay inside or outside? Are you going to potty train them? Let them on furniture? How will you play with the dog?
1) Mostly inside but I will take them outside for walks and stuff
2) Yes of course
3) Yeah
4) Interact with them, train, go to park etc.

Agreed. No Sh** shoes.
I have a pom mix, it looks like a dwarfed Golden Retriever. Easy enough to take care of. They can be extremely territorial, though. When I got my 80 pound Alaskan Malamute he wouldn't accept him for days and would bark nonstop.
Corgi
anything but a shih tzu
