I Was Born in the Wrong Generation
Well, I wouldn't say generation...
I'm in marching band, and all the seniors like the same things I do: Team Fortress 2, Magic the Gathering, PC gaming, classic rock, certain websites that shall not be discussed here (NOT THAT, just the "deep" internet. Websites that will understand what a "meme" is or what MMORPG stands for.)
But the freshmen (the grade I'm in) like: Call of Duty, Console gaming, modern pop music, and using the internet just for facebook and Skype or AIM or whatever people are using now.
I know these are all shallow things to compare, but these are really the only things I'm interested in (that other people actually care about), and it's kinda disappointing.

I know a ton of people who are into console games + COD, and I'm now a freshman in college. My nephews abandoned their consoles even before middle school to play various MMORPGs.
You'll find people similar to you, don't worry.
I was expecting a few (10-20) years difference. Not 3-4. This is just lol.
Luckily all my friends in my grade like the same stuff as me (or atleast the ones I found) PC games, Kpop, music, and etc xD
I've asked quite a few upper classmen, and they all said that we were a lot better than last year. But yeah, I guess most other grades below us are insane and everyone hates them.
The thing is, it's the "but you were just one last year! we aren't that annoying!" attitude.
You'll understand as soon as you are a sophomore, and as you stated how everyone below you is super annoying and everyone hates them. It's like that for the people above you and whatnot.
@fradd: It would also depend on the school lol. As far as my HS was, it just got much worse every year. Didn't help that the many of senior classes for us were in the freshman hallway (made no sense...and all the freshmen kept standing around in the middle of the halls and didn't care about anyone).
Once, some freshman/sophomore (couldn't tell) was just walking backwards like an idiot when him and his friend were pushing each other around, and the guy walked back straight into me, so I pushed him off and kept walking. So he kept following me and my friends and wanted to start something. My friend was quick to tell him that we all knew he was high (pretty clear he was) and he had a "wtf how do they know!" reaction and left o_o
so..what's wrong with console gaming?
Why do people hate on freshman. I'm a freshman, and sophomores are the ones that everyone truly hates. But they still pretend to hate on freshman because they need to boost their crappy self confidence to maintain their insignificant lives.
As annoying as the freshmen-hate was to hear (even when I was a senior, I got annoyed), there was no doubt that overall, freshmen got worse with every year. Everyone knows there's always nice kids in the bunch, but generally, it just kept going downhill
I wish I was born during the Jazz age.
or the 50's.
i wish i was born 100 years into the future
Not like it's impossible to befriend older students, or to find friends in your grade with similar interests. Or like stixjp said, be open to other things. :I
Be like me and be open to all of those things(well, except for maybe Magic and classic rock ).
I wish I was born in the 80's...
Sounds like me when I was a freshman. Well... just find people that like what you like. lol the only thing you can do...
