Fitness Stats amp Goals

Hey everyone, firstly I'd like to start off by saying I know this isn't bodybuilding.com, so if bodybuilding, powerlifting, and/or general fitness doesn't interest you then please hit the back button and go back to the Anime section. There use to be a pretty big fitness community on Basil back when I would post (My last post on this account was exactly 1 year ago, October 2015). I thought that I would start a thread to see if anyone around is still lifting, hitting their macros, and making sick gains. Feel free to post your stats & goals in a similar format, I'd love to hear what other people's lifts are and what you're trying to achieve.

I'm now 25 years old, I've been lifting for about 6 years now. I consider myself more of a powerlifter than a bodybuilder since my main goal during training is strength rather than muscle growth, however I do supplement my workouts with a lot of hypertrophy as well.

At 185 lb bodyweight my big 3 are:

315 Benchpress
435 Squat
515 Deadlift

This is my current physique:

Now it's your turn! Stay safe & stay strong Basil.

EDIT: (Can a mod please fix the title to say "and" lol)

to workout better using leverage in your mouth, buy a ring from a upscale store selling really good metal, sanded it til it's flexible, trimmed the width of it and left the cut open and put hard pottery clay on it so that i have shiny hard pottery that is a little matte at the bottom to imitate bone* your teeth in feeling, so i can have a place to press the sides of my tongue onto and against in my mouth whilst i suck the teeth in the front on the bottom, therefore i am less of a prey of reverse racism or of being brainwashed to be a bigot who hates women in particular. I am preying on weak members of society that way since the matte clay that is shiny at the top can imitate the feeling and shape of a fang root. you should sand the ring and butter it with anti-cancer stuff into the sanded particle that you can't see to rid the particles when you place it in face toner after you butter it up, and bake the ceramic in the oven either on high or in miniscule layers with a hair-dryer onto the ring and put latex for tightening on the inner of the ring where it would bunch against the back of the fang tooth on the lower lip on the inner of the ring where the matte clay is baked on thick to keep it on the metal. buy plastic halloween vampire fangs of different brands until you find a tight fitting one and place tight metal at the bottom with a rubber band on the inside of it attached to it and layer the matte ceramic in dried layers thinly onto it with isolated heat after finding which ones fit on the top and bottom with the root cleft(which just means a plateau or like imagine me meaning cleft and plateau as tongue the top row of your teeth and feel for the rootline of your fang tooth and imagine that is a cleft or a plateau if you widen it's width and height and make the widened-ness be ya know, kinda making the root bone have more width than the hypothetical recessed gum-line height- of the bottom of the fang wide and bold as well as deep bunching into the gumline. This is what I meant, imagine the cpi sucking power of the tongue at the bottom of the row of teeth at the gumline obviously the front teeth in between the fangs, and the tongue curling at the sides at the shape form of the new back of the fang teeth and having that fang be pushed outward thusly.. That's the power that I hold. the shape is thin and tapered to fit around the tooth at the bottom with non-toxic silicone that is a hard durometer, and that way dried out hard, dessicated xylitol chewing gum can be stuffed in there, which takes up no room since the face tooth is already tight as the shape of your natural tooth, or you can build the matte ceramic pottery clay onto a grillz fang teeth clip that has a bendable gold wrapping and holding your back set of teeth. Also, don't build the ceramic on the sides of the fake fang cover, otherwise you won't be able to fit the fake fang on. try to make the tooth feel weighty especially like i said, widen the root bone and make it pressure against the gumline. I'm in a knowing position of being since i will have soon what crackwhores try to find through drugs, which is being a conservative woman just That much more. if the thing won't stay tight and falls off the fang, my war victim who will probably, utterly be othered as a less CONSERVATIVE person, i can buy a thin ring of stainless steel metal and cram it down to my gumline after baking on ceramic in the face of the ring that resembles what i described for my tongue to tongue and finally push against the plateau i made on the middle-lower part of the back of my lower cuspids.

@trueatheist: Sorry bro, changing the title is something that I can't help you with :c

@upcomingnerd: I would say nay. Benching decline is essentially the same as benching flat, you're using and activating the exact same muscle groups (for the most part). Decline may activate your lower chest a bit more but for most intents and purposes for the majority of people you're not going to need to bring up your lower chest since flat bench is already activating your low to mid chest insane amounts. Most people when they bench, their lower chest is naturally the portion that gets brought up first which is why you see people doing a lot of incline to bring up their upper chest. I would stick with flat and incline. The only time I've heard of people doing decline and sticking with it is if they find it feels more comfortable, if that's the case then for sure, do whatever feels best.

@helpingly: Thanks man I appreciate it! Your name definitely suits you. Can you fix the title if it isn't too much of a hassle as well? It should say "and", not "amp".

@wellness: Thanks bro. I can't believe this thread is already a year old.. I'm actually a bit fluffier now than when I posted it because I've been addicted to the gains, but I will get shredded again probably in the spring.

@giraffe: Thanks dude, yeah it's pretty sad that Basil has died so much, the fitness community is almost at zero. There use to be some sort of thread with someone asking how to gets abs or someone asking how to gain muscle or lose weight on the daily. Now, sadly, not so much. Also gratz on your lifts, for your weight you're doing amazing and your physique is lookin' proper, keep it up and I hope to see some updates with more progress!

Been the weakest and lightest I've ever been in ten years. Much more flexible, more stamina, alright I guess. Seem to be falling into old habits of wanting to eat more and lift heavy, but refraining. Doing 3 sets of 12, instead of pyramids. Probably hit 170lbs if I continue to lose weight. Been having trouble sleeping straight hours, sleep in fragments. Quit my job again, coding again, moved back in with my parents. Not sure what I want with life. Fickle. 30 years old, can't even bench 225lbs, what I benched in grade 9. Lost. Collecting rent on a house, that's paid for. I don't know what I want in life. Not even what I want in the gym, which has been the only constant in my life. Whining on a forum where no one gives af. Life. Alive.

Lookin' swole @trueatheist:.

Man, I remember the thriving fitness community back in the day! Good times.

23 yrs, 5'8, 160lbs checking in

5RM bench: 205lbs
5RM squat (raw): 275lbs
Strict pullups: 18
Strict muscleups: 10

I don't really deadlift; for the lower back/posterior chain I prefer good mornings + RDLs.

I also don't test 1RMs since my goals don't really call for it (I'm all about that hypertrophy), but I respect those who do; it takes a lot mentally and physically to bust out a 1RM PR.

Here's a little fully-clothed action from this summer: http://i.imgur.com/VHpf4oS.jpg

My arms look larger than my legs but I promise that's an optical illusion.

@upcomingnerd: I can never get the mind muscle connection right with that exercise, but it works for a lot of people. Bottom line for any exercise: if it feels good, you can get a consistent pump and there are no aches or pains, do it. Consider doing dips as well, with a wider grip and a forward lean, it works out a lot of the same areas as the decline.

Ran 3 mile with the crew Friday morning with 40lbs. It was really hard I could barely keep up. Early that week we did a casevac it was not very far but it was hard like a mile or something, it was a group of 24 an like we were carrying people who were "injured" they were like 150 to 200 lbs. 3 people were always injured. Most of these we did a bunch of circuit type of exercises & body sparing/grappling afterwards. Training last between an hr to two hrs.

Of top of unit training I would do my own workouts in the afternoon farmer walks tire flips box jumps burpee pull ups. Mostly calisthenics or power lifting oriented workouts. Planning to do somemore cardio got a combat fitness test coming up soon.

@trueatheist: i almost do same, except i do with rope on cable machine, because of weighted dips and benching for so many years my tricep over power my arms like crazy, that movement alone hits it all and i like the constant tension the cable machine gives

EDIT: scratch that. did the movement you said and god it feels amazing

@rixworkwix: Better be drop setting and super setting on arm day, that's all I do for my biceps now. My current favorite tricep movement is the standing overhead french press w/ an EZ curl bar.

@upcomingnerd: ya but I don't have time to. Chicks like the ones I talk to don't have much time as well. So I don't blame them. At max I have 3hrs to myself on weekdays. Gym food bed up at 4am. Week ends are usually just sporadic. Friends want to hangout but I just want to gym swim & sauna. I am usually so busy with martial arts & fitness/classes beautiful girls are a 2nd. I can show you the girl I'm talking to right now. The most we do is send some pics.

165 lbs 6pac is present most of the time. I'm working on athleticism & martial arts(flexibilty)now a days. Not saying heavy lifting is in the past, I do it at least 3 times a week.

I'm really just going all out to much. Training 4-6 hours some days & going off of 6 hr of sleep. The amount of food is so much you won't understand, but I need it or else I'll get sick because of how much volume I do.

Guys don't be afraid to eat if your putting in more than 3 hours of hard training a day. I've gotten tension headaches from not eating enough. Stay strong & know that there's someone else working just as hard & hurting more than you.

@helpingly: Yeah, I don't think being a big guy matters much to girls. Personality trumps in my opinion. Who cares if you're huge but don't have the personality to approach a girl and make her feel special. My issue isn't that though, it's just I want to keep cutting and she likes chub. Imma go on that old school 365 bulk lol. Get back to over 210lbs and just beast it. Pump it and get tired after 2 mins...jk, I much rather the stamina I have at a lower weight. Sure, I may not be able to prop her up on my shoulders but I also don't end up sweating like a hog after 10 minutes.

@rixworkwix: That's true, everyone is different. Not sure if a certain % gets more girls than another, but maybe. I've found that if I make a girl feel special or broke her down if she was hot, she was attainable. But what do I know, that's only my own experiences and that is, looks mean crap to most women. It's how you make them feel that matters.

@xdarkshynobi: But do you talk to them, get them digits and smash? When I was at my biggest, women felt that security factor with me but I was a lazy lay. Having huge muscles to me, sucks. Maybe if I had more of a hybrid build it would have been awesome but just lifting for power, it was really crappy. 2 plates for 4 times is good, but I benched 225 in highschool in grade 10. Heavy is...well to me a lil heavier and now at 30 no lie, after going back to lighter weight and still being natty my joints hurts. I wonder how people who gear up, how they feel after all the time under tension. TBH if I could go back in time, I would never have lifted more than 225 for bench. It could be that my job is physical and I work mad hours a week, so my body is tired but careful with going heavy man. You are not going to be young forever and that crap adds up. Right now, I try and keep to 225 for most of my lifts and just do circuits. My chest is much much weaker, traps shrunk, shoulder are tiny, biceps meh, back very weak compared, legs smaller but I feel much more amazing at my current size than I did at 210lb+ . I fill out a wifey fine but lifting heavy nah. I think I look decent still and I still get looks sometimes but I'm no power lifter anymore.

http://imgur.com/YvvWSOg

I don't know man what the hell I want. I want to keep my stamina, like where my strength is at for what I'm doing in my life, want to keep my girl happy but I'm always tempted to either cut big or lift big. I never had abs and it's something I've always wanted to try and go for. I reached my goals for power lifting in the past but cutting nah. And now, I'm content relationship wise, not sure if I want to make her unhappy to reach my goals. She already complains when my arm is under her head and I flex my biceps which happens a lot when trying to get comfy cuddling. You know cuddling after .. is just a pain in the butt to get comfy but they always want to. I swear I cannot find a comfy position to sleep in, something always falls asleep and gets those tingles, drives me insane. You roll away and she rolls ontop and you're like...wtf, now I'm trapped. I don't even know what the hell I'm talking about anymore lol. But yeah, careful with lifting too heavy. Numbers really don't mean that much. You can knock someone out benching 125lbs or benching 400lbs. You're in the military you know this. Having huge muscles don't really mean anything, not where I am in life. If you enjoy doing it for yourself, respect. But that's as far as it goes for me now. Even with wanting abs, I thought as a teen, if I got abs, I'd get more girls but now I have money lol I can get girls just as easily. Do I want abs for the same reason, or do I want abs to prove to myself that I can get them. Idk lol. We'll see.

So I've got a question to you gents who also have a gf. Has any girl you've had disliked muscle? This girl says muscle is great and all but for cuddling she prefers a chubbier guy. Which was alright for the winter months but it's spring now. I can see what she means though, cause if she was all hard and muscly I wouldn't like it either.

i have returned, i caught a throat infection recently which turned into a fever, still have a bad cough. being in a caloric defecit and having an active job did not help with recovery, took a day off work and ate an extra 1.2k calories. worked wonders. im in a rut when it comes to working out. just focusing on losing fat so strength and building muscle cant really happen. sort have been bored with gym for last month. even going 3 times a work feels like a chore. i reminisce the times i would go 12 days straight and love it and would have to force myself to take a day off 4 years ago.

Ran 6 miles stupid friends had me do another 3 miles after I did my cardio already. Don't know why I'm going to hit probably core back & legs. Update later!

360 deadlift 4x15
410 squat 6x15 basic leg day
My grip is always dying on me so it's hard for me to pull more with my deadlift. With squats I don't have to worry about my grip strength just being solid AF.
45 mins in a sauna(before lifting) 168~lost my 4pack cause hungry.

164.8 I have my 4 pack at rest.

@xdarkshynobi: It may be a topic of discussion but a lot of people claim that the elevation mask really doesn't help you at all with anything.

It definitely makes things harder for you, however in theory it doesn't help you at all with increasing strength/endurance. This isn't fact however, it's opinions of people and my own as well.

@Cannoneer Sounds like a dam solid plan mate you're gonna kill it
Just curious about your programming though, you go very 'by the book' on your pull and shoulder day; on the contrary, your leg day is killer with the failure sets and your push day incorporates some of those elements as well. Wondering why you don't train like that on back/shoulders?
For my experience, staying in 3x8-10 gets me stagnant and its easy for me to fall in a groove, week in, week out hittin the same weights each time. Messing around with the rep scheme with pyramids and failure sets keeps it fun and challenging at the same time
