Taking classes you dont need. For why?
I know people in my chem/bio/physics classes back in highschool and end up doing well but dont use it.
They are like in some business program, or a an art program or something totally unrelated.
Why would you put yourself through that?
Although I do know people who went into a health program after finishing their business administrative/Art/etc.

Cuz I have to
I took a lotta business classes. They were fairly enjoyable but it seems as though they care a lot about appearance rather than your own skill or knowledge. Skills emphasize were public speaking, leadership, and selling your idea. I might go back into it or get a dual major because entrepreneurship has always interest me. I really like economics classes. I might get a finance and CS degree.
High School is different, you don't pay for classes.
I'd make my kid take the tougher courses
I'm taking an intro to astronomy now and it is indeed rad as heck.
My first astro teacher told us to go to our local observatory over summer if we got the chance so I went and I saw the cat's eye nebula and a globular star cluster outside of our galaxy and solar flares coming off the sun and it was probably the coolest thing I've ever done, 10/10 I would highly recommend everyone visit their local observatory
At community college I took two astronomy classes even though I was done with my science req. because astronomy is rad as heck
I'm an animation major.
Because you're interested in it? Because it helps keep your options open later on?
imo english class after 8th grade or freshman year should be recommended but not required.
i used to get into a lot of classes i didn't really need and even some i wasn't interested in just so i could get into better colleges/universities or whatever it's called in america
Graduation requirements, interest, and depending on the type of class (Honors, AP, etc) they can get college credit depending on the college.
because they're interested? ? ?
like im an art student now but i took bio until grade 11 (i had no room for it in grade 12) because i liked it.
Sciences are pretty easy to get good marks in if you're good at it... It's a lot less subjective than some courses. Maybe they're using it as a GPA booster?
Also like people said, requirements/interest.
People have separate interests and you should accept that.
Let others do what they like/want to do.
.. out of pure interest, perhaps?
or if you're applying for scholarships, doing well in science courses can make you eligible to enter for consideration to a wider variety of scholarships.
