My job.tts
I work for TFS, Toyota Financial Services, inbound collections.
Basically my job is to listen to sob stories and deny extensions, kick is I'm in collections, not customer service, meaning the customer is not always right and I don't have to be nice.
It's 8 minutes before I'm done, I get a call whatever.
I do my intro: Thank you for calling TFS my name is Kory agent ID ---- may I have your account number.
Customer says: W?
Me: Uh, can I get your account number?
Customer: I'm asking the questions here.
Me: I can't answer any of your questions if I can't pull up your account and W doesn't work for me.
Customer: You're going to answer my questions!
Me: Hey, you're going stop being irate or I'm going to disconnect the call.
Customer: You can't call me irate I'm the customer.
Me: I'm in collections I can tell you to calm down if I want to.
*hung up*

Welcome to the future. where we will all be replaced by robots.
how'd you get a job
Dear Basil,
I used to work for TFS.
Why have collection agents when we could just have you devour them all
@xtripled: interesting perspective of me
This reminds me of when I worked customer service for this company. We used software with pre-recorderded responses that sounded like an actual person talking to customers, it was really cool. Downside was that we had to handle three calls at once. Anyway, the day that I quit I was basically mashing key responses to the people, stuff was jokes.
Anyway, is it different for outbound? I can't imagine being able to act like a jerk when you're the caller.
lol that sounds like a dream job for a lot of people in customer service. I know plenty that would love to be able to talk back to rude customers, but can't. What are the collections for though? Late car payments? I can only imagine some of the sob stories for that.
Yeah once the payments are late the customer goes into collections, then outbound will call them and if they call back they get transferred to inbound.
Well in training they tell us to be firm and assertive and if the customer is being rude you can hang up on them.
Customer service (even though you mentioned collections isn't particularly CS) is a terrible, terrible field. I would hang-up on uncooperative customers too if given the option.
