a guy did poorly in a course which basically meant he didn't meet the requirements for the university programs he wanted to get into. As a result, he was lost and didn't know what to do because it was his last year, last report card, applications were already in. All that awaited was the result of his finals and apparently he begged the teacher to just raise his mark 2-3% and he'll get into the schools he wants. Teacher didn't do it for him, he was furious/frustrated/sad and as a result some how came to the conclusion that he'll attempt to burn down the school as a revenge. He could have just gone back the next year, retake a couple courses to raise his GPA but i guess he didn't want to be a year behind/wasn't thinking straight. He set fire to the room beside the teachers' lounge that his teacher was in. Thankfully, people noticed it before the fire got too big and were able to put it out in time before anyone got hurt.

I don't think it made the news, nor do i know what happened to the guy. I just heard the story because i was at the cafeteria at the time when these events occurred and the teacher verified the above details.

my junior year, there was a senior who recorded himself with a girl in a bathroom stall

he was an ass

In high school a teacher was suspect of being in possession of pot but it turned out a student tried to frame him. Another teacher supposedly punched out a student, I think that was false.

Although it didn't happen in the school, there was a murder-suicide that happened literally next to the school.

My high school was the worst. My freshman year we had a series of bomb threats over the course of the first week of school which ended up being proven as pranks. My sophomore year there was a fight between two guys during lunch that warranted police intervention. My junior year it was discovered that a girl in my year was having an affair with the vice principal of discipline. My senior year a guy in my grade was caught stealing and then selling the answers to a midterm and because of that he was expelled and the colleges he was accepted to revoked his acceptance. My HS was a magnet for scandals.

Edit: ALSO my during my freshman (or sophomore?) year my history teacher was accused of selling pot to students and rumor has it she was fired because of that. No one knew for sure why she left but it was well known that her high school aged son was involved in smoking and whatnot.

there was a game some guys were playing on fb where they tried to have sex with different girls who were each assigned a point value. a girl lost her virginity to this stupid game and also there were cases of statutory sexual violation (actual word isn't allowed) some of them actually did it on school grounds. there was also an alumn that got drunk, crashed his car, called a tow truck, proceded to steal the tow truck, he then crashed it through a house's living room wall.

nothing major, just some girls getting pregnant. and the time a girl was caught giving service to a guy in the hallway when most of the people were in class. also, a teacher quit cause he supposedly assaulted a student with a water balloon.

Well this one happened a few years after I had graduated: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/05/laus-teacher-sex-with-teen.html but when we all heard about it we were like "I'm not all that surprised by this." Because he had always been overly friendly with the female students in a way that makes you think "He totally wants to have sex with her" and we had always said he was going to try it if he wasn't already trying it with one of the butt kissing ones already lol. I don't know what became of the case though, since they were asking for more information at the time.

Also, while not on the news, when I was a senior back in 2006, one of the freshmen girls gained a reputation for... her mouth (don't know how else to put it without being suspended lol). She did that multiple times to the point where no one even wanted to kiss her. She eventually caught caught with a couple of guys in a dark corner of the campus during a school dance. The principal tried to be vague about what they were caught doing, but we already knew lol. She was banned from dances after that.

There was quite a few at my school undergrad.. I think the most recent one was our school was rated one of the schools with the highest percentage of the student population doing drugs.

I went to a school on the lower east side. There was no direct scandal that I know of but since it was near the Projects, public housing, apparently, a girl was hanged/hung (don't know why people say hanged) in a park next to the school. And urban legend says that that girl roams the gym on the second floor. All of the custodians refuse to work on that floor at night.

Mine only has a sad story of a suicide that went on the news.

I go to UNC, so we've had our share of news stories recently.

student had sex with a teacher and the school found out so the teacher jumped off a bridge and killed himself.

a girl i went to elementary school with was caught having sex with a minor.
she worked as a teacher's aide at our old school.

i'll look for the article eventually.

I never saw any scandals in my school.
