whats with this stupid hate between blacks and asians

Why are blacks and Asians put off by each other? My cousin is mixed, part black and white, he lives in a decent neighborhood but there are a lot of Asian residence here yet he doesn't have one Asian friend, all his friends are white, I asked him why he didnt have any Asian friends and he said " they don't like me so I don't like them " WTF?
An 8 year old being exposed to any kind of racism is just sad.
My uncle also had a party for his younger kid where he invited the whole neighborhood, not 1 Asian there?
But then my aunt had a party(she's white) for her daughter and Her Asian neighbors were more than happy to come... I just realized this as I'm typing.. Asians and blacks really need to get rid of this stupid barrier because it is effecting the kids too.

This is stupid. Well, I mean the topic isn't, but the fact that it's on Basil, is. But uh, my input is that asians and blacks have very different cultures and in America, they're grouped differently and a lot of asians are grouped in a higher class in society while people group blacks to be in a much lower class in society. Why? Stereotypes. "Asians have the best technology, and they're the smartest and they'll be doctors and they have the biggest brains and they'll take over the world" while people stereotype blacks to be "poor, ghetto, shameless twerkers, the enemies of the police, and having a staggering eighteen baby daddies but only getting child support on 4."
But don't blame society. Because each and every one of us make up what we call "society". Just ignore the stereotypes and don't acknowledge them and before you know it you'll see a unification between all races.

This is just stupid. Worse than your normal Dota2 threads.
Just because they don't like him it doesn't mean it's because of his race. I'm asian and when i went to primary/elementary school, all of my friends were either white or black. Now with 2 months left before i finish high school, the majority of my friends are asian, but i still have lots of white/black friends. In australia, if you hate someone it's for a real reason, not because of what colour they are.

Lol. well my parents call black people "hat gwi"- black ghost... and they say it so casually too. I have no problem with black people, but a lot of them go into the whole black people- stealing- up to no good stereotype. Or maybe... like how kids normally wouldn't approach a black butterfly, they would normally approach yellow or white ones etc... less scary/ threatening?- like in scary movies everything is dark and black, you wouldn't have a vibrant-yellow-glowing killing scene. (so the color black seems scarier o_o) lol idk.

I live near black people, they have all of their homies sit outside at night and talk really loudly. During the day, tons of little black kids running around the front yard.

maybe they don't feel comfortable around each other? the kids being of different races may be a factor, but that doesn't mean it's "racism" just because the asian kids don't want to hang out with the black kids >.<
if one kid starts beating up the other kid because he's a different race, then THAT'S racism.

Yeah this is sad. I hate how my parents and Grandparents rant on about how black people will rob you, and how I should never marry a black woman or else I'll be disowned. The sad part is they actually believe they are doing what's right and good for me. It makes me want to smash my face into a wall...

@Only17 Maybe there is some specific dislike between your uncle and some of his neighbors? Where I live, my neighbors next door don't like the lady that lives a few houses down, and it's not a race thing because they are the same race. Some people just don't get along. But I think asians and blacks will get along just fine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ns-kXeQCMk

Poor generalisation. I can disapprove your statement right now. I for one live in Toronto (biggest city in Canada) and being asian growing up in a predominantly lower class area, asians and blacks get along fine. From elementary all the way to high school there wasn't a single issue. The kids themselves have no racist intents, their parents might have a prejudice but it isn't in the racist context. More like the fear context of influencing their culture on their children. But the jokes on them half the asian guys here dress black, act black etc.

I work in a predominantly black high school, but there's multiple white, hispanic and Asian students. From everything I've witnessed, race has never been any cause of argument or any trouble in my hundreds of hours of work.

Perhaps they didnt go to the party because they didn't know your uncle? If thats the case then its understandable I mean like most people wouldn't go to a stranger's party. As for the kids, it could simply because their personalities are not compatible. Ask your cousin why they dislike each other. Generally its true that asians don't like blacks, but I only find that to be true to the older generation of asians. Specifically, asians who are seniors or older adults who do not engage themselves in the diverse society. AKA fobs. These people only hang out with their own people, and therefore develop prejudice and stereotypes against other races. However, they are not the only ones who do this, it is with every other race. Don't worry too much about the asian children not getting along with your cousin, because eventually they will immerse themselves in the diverse culture and will not care about race.

Sure they are kids but what do u think will happen in their teens? they will most likely bully or get bullied by the asian kids then grow up to pass on that stupid racism to the next gen[/quote]
Its probably not that they don't like the black guy, Asians just tend to form groups of Asians where they can obsess over Asian things. You can watch almost any high school movie and there will be a group of Asians talking in some Asian dialect that no one else understands. We kinda just naturally become friends with people our race.
I'm Asian and I don't really have any black friends, not because I don't like them but because we're completely different. 90% of my friends are Asian. That's not necessarily being racist.

the LA riots of 1992 certainly doesn't help - the black community attacked koreans, even though the koreans never did anything to them
"Korean Americans not only faced physical damages to their stores and community surroundings, but they also suffered emotional and psychological despair. About 2,300 Korean owned stores in Southern California and Koreatown were looted or burned, thus contributing to 45 percent of all damages caused by the riot. According to the Asian and Pacific American Counseling and Prevention Center, 730 Koreans were treated for post-traumatic suffering, which included symptoms such as insomnia, sense of inactivity, and muscle pain. "

also, at above, preference in dating =/= racism

I remember this thread on basil last year asking who would you date, a black, asian, white and a guy/girl in prison.
About 50+ asian kids rated it like:
1.asian
2.white
3.guy/girl in prison / black
4.black / guy/girl in prison

Non Americanized Asians stick together and never seem to associate with any non Asian that doesn't speak their language.

Some black people do the same thing. Actually at my college, a lot of the black people are friends with eachother/ the black frat and they only seem to hang around other black people (There are a few that don't go by this stereotype and have all white friends though as well).

I think its just cultural preference. Look at Italians (towns like little Italy where its mostly Italians) or towns like Flushing where its only Koreans. Some people just naturally prefer to be with their own kind. Although I think its wrong, its very common regardless.

lol i have tons of asian friends. you shouldn't base it that ALL blacks and asians hate eachother the truth is that you've never seen even 99% of the world's population. you cant just bluntly say " blacks and asians dont get along". people are themselves it doesn't matter what racist it depends if two people like eachother/firends. if they dislike them they wont want to have contact with them. to put it simply your using this one incident, there is no war between black and asians, and you bringing this up will make future generations feel like its not right to have mixed culture friends. so if you want this to stop, stop bringing it up.

You're probably looking at more of an insular community type of thing being construed as dislike here.
Not to downplay that there are some very real cultural clashes between a variety of ethnic groups.
