Animated Cursors for Maplestory

Hello Basil, this is Pa, windian veteran and longtime basiler. Some of you know me, some don't. I've been called Sulphur, Shinta, Ragna, and many other things. I've been around the maple community for almost 6 years, and I still enjoy playing this game very much, even if it isn't the same as it used to be.

If you like Maplestory's cursors then maybe you'll enjoy the animated Maplestory cursors scheme I made for myself. I figured I'd share them with everyone and let the joy be spread.

Here's a pic that shows each frame of the cursors. I'm hoping to figure out a way to get left clicking effects down without using a program like CursorFX. If anyone has any info on how to, I'd greatly appreciate hearing it.

All the cursors work pretty well and they have drop shadows, which aren't shown in the pic above, so they look much better when used. I especially like the Hover Link one I made, it looks like you're actually clicking something

Here's the link to the cursors. They're all .ani files. If you're using Windows 7, just right click on your desktop and choose "Personalize". On the left side of the window there should be a link that says "change mouse pointers". You can then appoint all the correct cursors to their locations. If you're using Windows XP, click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Mouse. You can then access the same window from there.

Once you change all your cursors, save it as a scheme and you can switch back and forth between them whenever you want

So I opened it with WinRar, so what do I do now?

Edit: Nevermind I figured it out. Outstanding job, I absolutely love it.

I've updated the Link.ani so that the colors match that of the other pointers. Now it doesn't seem as bright.

@iShinzoo: Thank you

@raicouri: I want so much to get it working, but I can't seem to find any information anywhere on how to do so. The closest thing I've gotten to was CursorFX plus which allows click effects, but you have to pay for it, and the user interface for the program is complete crap. >.<

very nice job!
perfect other than the other aspects missing that you've mentioned. i'd love to see left click animation and dragging soon!
keep it up!

@Glacius: You're welcome

I've included a link to the normal pointer without animation.

@brian890: If you're running Windows XP, open up your Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Mouse. The second tab on that window is pointers, and you can assign each pointer in the pack to its location. ex: Pointer.ani for normal select. Once you have assigned all of the cursors, you can save the scheme up top as Maplestory and be able to switch between it and your regular cursors whenever you want

If you're running windows vista or 7, just right click on the desktop and click personalize. On the left side there's a link that says "change mouse pointers". Click on it and it takes you straight to the tab where you can change your cursors.
This looks really cool but can you change the pointer so that it goes down when you click it and doesnt move when you dont?
I find it really distracting to have it moving up and down when i am not doing anything
If you read above this is actually what we're discussing. Windows doesn't normally allow us to have left click effects like they do on maplestory, so we're trying to get it working.

@Apocolyptic: Sounds like a plan

7z is a type of compressed file. You can look it up on google. Its just like .zip or .rar. i'll post a .zip file instead for you.

@Suryoyo:

@RyuuseiRyu:

Posted a link above for my version of the beta cursor o.o

@BlazeMaple: I originally had the grab for link hovering but it looked so weird considering the hotspot keeps moving.I figured it'd be better for grabbing and moving icons, I Just don't know how to get that to work yet.

@Apocolyptic: I really would love to animate left clicking, hovering, and dragging effects like they do on maple. If anyone has info on how to I'd get to work on it right away.

You should use the grabbing animation for hovering over links.

I've been planning for this too but I got kinda confused for the move option so I stopped. You're missing text, pen, precision, N/A, and move. And I thought the help mouse frames only has 1 frame. Unless you make it fade or something, that'd be awesome!
OffTopic: There's also this sound scheme program, I wanted to make it like maplestory based too, but I can't convert my sounds into the files they can use, which is unfair...
is the link safe?
srry for distrust
Yes its safe. Its only .ani files, which are animated cursors.

@RyuuseiRyu: If enough people ask I'll make a nice beta cursor. Like I said before there doesn't seem to be enough people who know about it to appreciate it.

I wanted all the cursors to be animated. What I actually wanted was for the normal cursor to stay still, and pushes down when you double click. I also wanted the normal cursor to turn into an open hand when hovering over an icon and grabbing it when you click and drag. I'm not quite sure on coding for left click effects or hovering, but if it is possible I'm going to try to figure it out.

really amazing,
the only little problem is that on the normal cursor, the finger keep moving up & down, kinda annoying xD
