Pirate

Best pirate class?

What's the best (define it however you like since I only want to hear your opinions!) pirate class atm? I just came back to GMS after two years and haven't really been updated on what's been going on.

@crumpled: No problem, if you like pirate like classes also try blaster. It's technically a warrior, but feels like a pirate. It's not a popular class, but it is strong. If you are able to do animation canceling (via combos and great control) you can have really really high DPM.

@tubring22: Ait i'll think about it. 5th job actually looks so cool though for Cannoneers. Thanks!

Back again to say Cannoneers are great, and they'll be incredible when 5th job comes

I honestly loved all the pirate classes, even the ones whos pirate-hood is put into question (looking at you AB). But if I were to choose just one, I would always choose the Bucc.

Cannoneers are good for damage and mobility. You'll have to max out your attack speed though. They're both good bossers and mobbers but they're just sooooo slowwwwwwww. Your hyper skill at 150 lets you do a billion lines of damage (...like 15/16 but it feels like a billion, okay?) Their survivability is good because you're basically a tank. Mobility became amazing thanks to the revamp because you can link 3 skills to fly across maps (monkey push, rocket boost thingy, recoil shot or w/e they're called)

Corsairs are fun but slightly weak. You have to depend on finding high level bullets which sucks, but that depends on your server. Thei'r damage formula is similar to Sins, where like every bit of ATK adds a lot of damage. I could be wrong but that's what it feels like to me. Their survivability sucks because you barely have %avoid and since you're a ranged class you have low health. They're okay bossers but not the best since you die a lot. And mobbing is decent.

Buccs are really strong but you constantly have to supercharge to mob faster. Most of their buffs are passive now just like with Shades so it's pretty useful when you get debuffed and only have to press one or two keys to rebuff. I just didn't like their mobbing overall this class is more of a bosser.

I never played a mech much, only got one to 120. Their survivabilty is great and their mobility has improved over the years. They're pretty strong too but require a LOT of control to use because of all the summons you have.

TBs are pretty fun and unique. I like how it's water themed and all. You get a skill similar to Demon Blood/Shadow Partner but has a slight cooldown. It's a good class for mobbing since you can clear maps by flying through them, but bossing is kind of a pain since you have to rely on linking skills to get that extra bit of damage and speed. This class requires a lot of control too due to the skill linking.

Shades were okay. Good bossers and ..eh mobbers. I just got sick of using one skill for everything 4th job. Most buffs are passive so you don't have to worry about rebuffing. Also your link skill gives you a chance of surviving a fatal attack which is useful for bosses and if you suck at training. I think this class is mainly for bossing but if you enjoy that and pretty colors from skills, then pick this one.

I only played AB when it came out. I personally don't like it because the attacks are pretty slow. You don't use MP though which is nice, but then there's that skill recharge system thing which recharges by using certain skills so you can use other skills. It's not tedious but it's just..eh. And most attacks are just really big numbers with one to few lines instead of most classes that have attacks with like 6 lines or more of damage which makes you feel like a badass. The mobility is really good because of the flash jump and hook chain thing that lets you fly to the top of a map. And this class is currently gender locked to female. Not sure if they're ever going to change that.

Annnnnd lastly for Jetts, which nexon fixed...a bit. They tried to make it unique. I mean it is, but it just doesn't flow right because of all their skills. Their mobility is fast, they have the highest movement speed in the game WITHOUT a mount (190% dayyum boi!) but their survivability is pretty crap. I tried to main mine when it got revamped but I died so much and didn't really like the mobbing attacks so I quit. The bossing is a bit better because of the new attack and buffs. I just don't like the revamp because their new skills are garbage. Unique, but garbage. And also you have that Core as a link skill which you have to adjust weekly. I always forgot about it so I just had random stats every day. It got annoying to monitor and be responsible for I'm too lazy for that.

I think that's all the classes...if you wanna count Xenon. Xenons are both good bossers and mobbers and they're SUPER easy to fund because you rely on 3 stats instead of mainly 1. Their survivability is okay. Similar to Sairs and Jetts. But you have a lot of buffs that give HP so you should be good. Also you have your link skill to benefit from. Also you get shadow partner which is awesome so you do more lines and damage. And if you have those sengoku high or w/e totems you do 6 lines instead of 3 lines of damage which is nice. I think that skill applies to TB as well and Cannoneer because those shadow partner-like buffs apply to all attacks.

I can never decide on one class so that's how I was able to tell you a bit about every pirate lol

I played a Xenon and Shade. My main is Xenon. Pros is movement. There are two skills that help Xenon move across platforms upwards and we can do a double flash jump. You can choose between skill "modes", depending on bossing or mobbing. They are very fun. The Hyper Skill is also one of my favorites. The animation is one of the best..Xenon is also fairly strong and early game, easy to fund to get to great range. Overall, they are well worth the investment. Even not being a pure %stat Xenon, one can still be strong....Bossing or mobbing, xenon are really good. And unlike Phantom, Xenon does get its own Shadow Partner.

Shade has the least amount of buffs in the gamer...PERIOD. They can clash bosses and mob very well. They are fun and strong. I prefer either or of these as a main.

@maple7user: Not trolling. I think Jett and AB are the most fun to play, seem the most unique, etc. It's a personal choice but that's my honest opinion.

I haven't tried Xenon enough to comment on him. Mechanics are pretty strong and fun if you enjoy summons and, while not complex game-play, micromanaging your summons. Corsairs are fun but lack in the bossing department. Thunder Breakers are entertaining to play because of the quick skill chaining and animation cancelling, but they have a hard time against moving bosses. If you want a straight bossing class, Shade is really strong with (if I remember correctly) one buff, 100% stance, a key-down skill, and lots of lines. Regarding Buccaneers and Cannoneers, I haven't touched mine for a while, so I couldn't say. Cannoneers do seem pretty strong in terms of overall bossing/mobbing, though.
No comments on Angelic Buster and Jett. I haven't played either enough.

@okaythen: Oh, really? I thought he's hibrid, that's why I use the pirate CRA set, and when I cube, on my priority list, %all stats first, %STR second, lol my life was a lie.

1) Cannoneer
2) Thunder Breaker (Shade is likely stronger, TB is more fun though)
3) Eh

Xenon is not a pirate. They are a thief that can use pirate gear.

Best would probably be Cannoneer or Shade.
